I promised an Aveeno /Neutrogena scenario for Rite Aid. Better late then never right?
This scenario uses shelf prices – please note that your Rite Aid may be more or less than my Rite Aid. You will have to adjust your scenario accordingly. I am kinda mentally fried this week, so I am not even sure if this is the best possible scenario – but I got $76.80 retail of suncare for $3.43.
Based on a 20% discount
- Aveeno Suncare and Lotion $12.49 = $9.99
- Neutrogena Suncare $13.49 = $10.79 (only SPF 100 is this expensive)
- Aveeno 2.5oz Lotion $3.69 = $2.59
To qualify for the Aveeno and Neutrogena, buy $30, get $10 UPR. (you can get one for Neutrogena and one for Aveeno) Also, you can get a $15.00 UPR when you buy $50 in select skin care items. Also this depends on if your store will allow you to use multiple in ad coupons. You may need to do this in several transactions.
Here is the scenario I did.
Buy (3) Neutrogena Suncare $32.37
Buy (3) Aveeno Suncare or Lotion $29.97
Buy (1) Aveeno 2.5 oz $2.59
Total $64.93
use (1) $2.00/1 Aveeno Suncare Printable
use (1) $2.00/1 Aveeno Recyclebank Coupon (good for any size – need points)
use (2) $1.50/1 Aveeno Sun Protection Product, exp. 7/31/11 (RP 05/15/11)

Get $10 UPR for Aveeno
Get $10 UPR for Neutrgena
Get $15.00 UPR for Skin Care
$3.43 after coupons & UPR
With the 10% discount, you can purchase the $12.49 Neutrogena for a better deal.
Buy (3) Neutrogena Suncare $33.72
Buy (3) Aveeno Suncare or Lotion $33.72
Total $67.44

Pam Custer says
Can this deal still be done? or is it to late?
Shannon says
this deal was for last week.
pam custer says
So the avenno and nuetragena deal is gone but the skin care still one til the end of the month right?
Shannon says
Right Pam.
Nichole says
I didn’t see the in ad coupons, did I miss them. They aren’t in next weeks’ flyer, were they in this weeks?
Shannon says
They are in this weeks, ending today.
Liv says
Hi Shannon, Do I need to give my printed manu Qs before I give them the in-ad Qs? Is there a specific order that works best for you? I tried to do the Neutrogena deal, gave them the $3/15, then the 3 $1.50/1 in-ad q for Neutrogena, then the 3 $2/1 printed Manu Q for Neutrogena that I got from neutrogena.com. (we have 3 computers). The printed manu Q did not work for Ultra Sheer SPF 70 or Age Shield Spf 100. The cashier went to get a wet skin spray to try out. Coupon only worked for the wet skin spray depicted on the coupon. Did I give them the coupons in the wrong order? Coupon says for any neutrogena suncare or sunless product.
Shannon says
There is no order to give them in. I purchased the 100SPF as shown above and they scanned just fine.
Lisa Mc says
I had a problem like Liv, above, with the $2 off ANY Neutrogena Suncare product manufacturers coupon printed off the Neutrogena website. I had 3 different sunscreens (very slim selections), and I used RC49 coupons on all 3. Then when the cashier scanned the mfr coupon, it beeped and said Item Not Purchased. Why would it do that? The bar code started with a 5, and the next 5 digits matched up. She called the shift supervisor over, who looked in the policy manual, and said if it wouldn’t scan, there was nothing she could do. I asked why she couldn’t force it through, to follow their coupon policy, and she just said she wasn’t allowed. She voided my transaction, which I had used a 10% off the total order coupon, so that coupon didn’t work anymore either. After they held me up for half an hour, I took my coupons back and left $100+ merchandise on the counter and walked out, on principal. I kinda wish I would’ve just bought the stuff without the 2 $2 coupons, because it was $67 worth of sunscreen I would’ve got for $6. And it cost me $4 in gas for a trip there. She did give me a rain checks, and I WILL be calling home office Monday morning! Any ideas? And can they reactivate my 10% one-time pass?
Shannon says
Lisa,
It may be the 10% off coupon ?
Lisa Mc says
My $2 coupons off the Neutrogena website would not work on the Baby suncare, the spf100, or the spf30. There was no wet skin left to try it on. I wish there was, I wanted the wet skin kind. Long version of my frustrating incident is posted below.
Michelle says
Thanks for posting the deals on sunscreen! I’ve been meaning to buy some and this gives me a reason to. Awesome blog!
Sonal says
Hi Shanon,
i made purchase of Aveeno products worth $39 , now if i do purchase Aveeno products for $21 , would i get UPR of $10 + UPR $15 for skin care products?
Shannon says
Yes.
Deanna says
Do you know when the UPs expire. I’m not sure it will be worth me doing the deal if they have a short expiration date. Thanks!
jeanine says
I did this deal tonight using a 10% off coupon — prices in () reflect the 10% off:
1 neutrogena baby sunblock stick 9.99 (8.99)
1 neutrogena wet skin spf 85 12.99 (11.69)
1 neutrogena ultra sports spray spf 70 11.99 (10.79)
Subtotal neutrogena $31.47
3 aveeno continuous protection spf 85 each was 11.99 (10.79)
Subtotal aveeno $32.37
Total $63.85
-$3 off $15 survey coupon (I maxed out so only had one left otherwise I would have broken this up into multiple transactions)
5 -$2 manuf coupons
1 -$1 manuf coupon
6 -$1.50 store coupon
tax 1.95
Subtotal $42.80
– 12.98 prior up rewards
OOP $29.82
up rewards received $35
$10 neutrogena and aveeno UP’s expire on 6/25
$15 skincare up expires on 8/6
So all 6 things for $7.80 :)
long says
Do i have to buy everything in one transaction ?
hailey says
nope I did mine in two transactions but the computer didnt catch up (meaning it was slow tracking the purchases) so customer service said it should be caught up by tonight so when I do my shopping on Sunday my (2) 10 ups and 15 up will print out
Christine says
I am confused. I thought you can use one MQ, a VV Q and an in-ad Q all on the same item, right?
Shannon says
No you cannot Christine. You can use one RC49 coupon – video values and in ads are both RC49.
Anna says
I did this deal too. I have a 20% off discount and had to adjust what I was going to buy based on different Rite Aids prices. I got 7 Neutragena and Aveeno Suncare products (mostly high SPF for the fact) and 2 Aveeno small lotions. Total retail of $79.70 for $4.21 after coupons and UPS. This was a fantastic deal. I cant believe they let you double up the UPS deals!
Kristina C says
Does anyone know offhand if the recyclebank aveeno c is one you print at home, or if they mail it to you?
Shannon says
print at home.
Terri says
There are Video Values coupons for the Aveeno and Neutrogena suncare as well.
Shannon says
Terri, you cannot combine them with the in ad, the in ad are the better deal.
Terri says
Thanks! Sorry, I didn’t realize they were both 49s. :)
Sonal says
if the store does not allow more than one in-ad and if you have more than 1 item(s) than we can combine VV coupon and in-ad coupon. thats what i have done before.
Shannon says
You can use one in ad and one video values if you are buying 2 items. You end up losing a little with the video values because they are less value, but if you have no other way, then that works
tina seymour says
oh and BTW … great job!! I didnt even attempt it. I have so much sunscreen I am not sure I need that much more! But now that you did all the work for me I really have no excuse not to go :P
Shannon says
I am going to take this to the baseball moms. We spend so much time sitting out in the sun and one of them is always running out of sun screen. One Mom spent $12.50 on Sunscreen at the memorial day tournament. gah!
Grace says
O..M…G! :) If I spend that much I wouldn’t even come clean about it.
Shannon says
?????
Grace says
If I *SPENT* that much on one tube (since most people who know me, know that I don’t pay retail for anything).
Shannon says
Grace,
Wait, if you spent $3.43 for 5 tubes of sunblock, 18 oz lotion and tube of lotion, you wouldn’t admit it? LOL I am confused. I thought that was pretty stinking good for Neutrogena Suncare.
Corlien says
I think she means the mom who paid $12.50 for one tube at the memorial day tournament, Shannon!! lol :)
Grace says
No No No…lol. If I spent $12.50 for only one tube I would hate to admit it, with all the deals in all the stores that you can get these days. Get it now? So sorry for the confusion. :)
Shannon says
LOL I am slow today Grace. I better go drink my coffee ,because everyone else knew what you meant ROFL
Ashley says
I think she means the lady that spent $12.50 on sunscreen lol
Shannon says
duh. I am slow today. LOL. Yes I am mortified by these ladies. They seriously just run into CVS and pay full price.. Gah
tina seymour says
I suppose you could have saved $6 more if you broke it down into 3 transactions. That would have made it a MM
Virginia says
I typically coupon at CVS, but plan to start couponing at Rite Aid soon. I am confused by some of the posts that talk about 10% & 20% discounts. What is the criteria for % discounts at Rite Aid? Thx
Shannon says
Virginia,
You earn the discounts with your wellness cards. You earn points to earn the discounts. initially, you would not be eligible for either discount.
Jessica says
When I received my first coupon for 10% b/c I earned enough points, the cashier said only to use it on regular price stuff b/c it would take the better deal of coupons. So, do I need to use the 10% off before giving the rest of my coupons? I just want to make sure that it won’t reject a coupon. Thanks!
yulean says
Thank Shannon, look like I have to go 2 different Rite Aid to do separate transactions.
yulean says
Can I use 3 in ad coupons? My cashier would not let me use more than 1 :(
Shannon says
Yulean, you may have to break it out into separate transactions. It is tracking.
