I don’t know if it’s just my local Acme or what, but they seem to be much more strict with coupons at mine on Naamans Rd. in Delaware. I noticed they have a new “look” to staff, new team shirts and they ask you if you need help alot more now, so they seem to be ramping up their service. However, today I tried to use the .55 off 1 Lays coupon (to get them for .90 as listed above) and I had to wait at least 5 minutes while the cashier read, re-read and then went to check with customer service to see if I could use them. She said they said “Do not duplicate” which she took as do not double – it means do not copy them! Then they did not automatically double (it did not say anywhere that they could not double and it started with a 5) and she had to go back and check to see if they would double. The cashier said if they don’t double automatically there’s nothing she can do. They finally said yes at customer service to double them but it was such a hassle over just a few bucks. I probably won’t be doing many deals there unless the policy is cleared and doesn’t take so long to do. I then forgot the Larry’s frozen potatoes were 10/$10 and I had .50 off 2 coupons. I picked up 12 of them, hoping to get them for $6. The coupons did say Do Not Double on them (I didn’t notice before, I looked after the cashier adjusted). She scanned them, and they doubled but then she started yelling saying they weren’t supposed to double and she had to remove them doubling. My impression was that if the coupon began with a 5 (which it did) that the doubling is a “store” discount, not necessarily the manufacturer’s cost. So she removed the doubling (which took alot of effort and time and two people to do). I felt like saying well you just told me if the “Computer” says that’s the way it is, then shouldn’t you leave it? They were just about to NOT double my others because the “computer” said so, but when it doubles by the computer, they can override it. Sheesh. Just venting, hope their improved service comes along with some improved policy and clarity!
