Amazon has lowered the price of the 3G Kindle with special offers to $139.00, down from $189.99. The new Amazon 3G Kindle offers free 3G Globally & Wifi. It includes special offers and sponsored screen saverson the bottom of the home screen—they don’t interupt reading.
Amazon offers free Kindle ebooks daily and now you can even share your Kindle Books.
Is the $50 price drop worth the sponsored offers? What is your thoughts?
Hmmmm…I’ve been toying with the idea of a Kindle for a while now. This seems like an offer that is too good to pass up (no, I don’t mind the sponsored offers)…but I was really trying to hold out for an iPad. What to do, what to do…
he he I have an Ipad and really want a kindle. I cannot justify it though.
I bought mine awhile back when you posted about it being $114. I used to real ALOT and then I got away from it for so long. I bought this hoping the simplicity of it would make me start reading again. It has. Basically I have downloaded so many of the free books and haven’t had to buy any yet. And as you say, start reading and if you don’t like it, delete it, for free it’s no big deal. As for the ads, I don’t even notice them. Sometimes there is a small ad at the bottom of the screen that I just block out….kind of like my cable company (Comcast) on the onscreen guide they have an ad of some sort at the bottom of the screen. A big ad will pop up when you aren’t using it, but then I don’t even really look at them.
yes thank you so much- very helpful! can’t wait to get it!
I received the kindle with special offers ($114) for Mothers Day and I LOVE it! The ads only appear full screen when its not in use and a small ad bar on the bottom of your library. It does NOT affect the reading material. I have already purchased 3 offers and am so glad I made my husband buy me this instead of the one without the offers. One purchase was $10 off a $20 purchase, the other one was if you purchase a selected book, you will receive a $10 credit. I purchased a book (Like Water for Elephants for $4.50), so I made a $5.50 profit and just today I had an offer to buy an eligible book for $1. So if you are hesitating, then I would say buy the kindle with special offers. I always love a good deal! :)
Oh and Marleah, the kindle that is priced at $114 does not have 3G, so in order to buy a book then you will have to be in a wifi area to log into. This one has 3G built in, so if you wanted to purchase a book then you can do it right there on the spot. I always purchase my books at home, and if I’m at a hotel, they usually have free wifi there, so it doesn’t affect me to not have 3G. Other than that, you can still read your book without the 3G. It will be in your library and can read anywhere you want. Just brought my kindle to the beach for the first time and love it. The e-ink is great for reading in the sun. I have an ipad and had trouble reading outside. Also, the ipad is much heavier than the kindle. The kindle is lightweight and easy to put in a bag and carry around. HTH:)

Thanks for the info on this. Helps me in making a decision.
What is the difference between this and the regular kindle that is 114? Why would I need 3g?
Absolutely! I just bought this Kindle last week at full price :( But anyway, definitely worth the savings. I hardly ever notice the sponsored ads and the special offers have been great. I would highly recommend this Kindle to everyone.
