I print alot. No, I print a ton. My printer is probably the second most used item in my house, after my coffee pot. If you coupon like I do, on any given day, you can print up to 30 coupons. I also use my printer to print 4 weekly grocery ads and 2 drug store ads. My husband also works from home several days a week, so we give our printer a good workout every day. We made the switch from ink jet to laser a few years back. I know that the cost of laser printers is more than ink jets, but in the long run, the cost is less. The one thing I have been missing is a color printer. I haven’t had a color printer in quite a while and when I last looked the price of a color laser printer was out of the question.

So, when Dell asked me to give their printer a test run, I wasn’t quite sure.   However, when I checked out the prices of the Dell Laser Color  printer, I was pleasantly surprised. They were actually quite reasonable, so I was willing to give it a whirl.

Before I got the Dell, I decided that I needed  a printer that can:

1. Print quickly.
2. Easy to setup  and add to my network.
3. Be cost effective.
4. Print nice quality color.
5. Fit on my small desk.

Before I got the printer out of the box, I wanted to check out how cost effective the price of printing is. I knew it wouldn’t be quite as cheap as printing black and white laser, but I was hoping it would be more cost effective than an ink jet.

Here is how it ranked:

Cost –  The Dell 1250c color was $189.99 – a really good price for a color, but the Dell 1130 is just $99.00!   Here is what I figured out – it would be roughly $.011 to print per page which is less than the ink jet I previously had. It isn’t quite as cheap as a strictly black and white laser, but the black and white cannot print beautiful color pictures – now can it!

Printing quickly – Can you say super speed? My previous printer sounded like a jet engine getting ready to take off and it was going to lift off my desk. This Dell is sweet – no loud rumbling sounds and it doesn’t take forever.

Setup – It only took me a few minutes to find the Mac Drivers online and presto, the printer was installed. I quickly shared it on my network and we can all print to it.

Print Nice Quality Color – After not having a color printer for several years, I realized how much I missed it. Evan had a school project and we were able to do his entire project in color.

Fit in a small place – The color printer took up very little space, so I was pleased that it fit.  My desk is filled to the max.

    and i desperately need a new printer – the HP inkjet that i got (free with a computer purchase, that i bought with a coupon code OF COURSE) 3 years ago is dying, with a random phantom causing it to turn on and off at all hours. :( the dell looks like a huge step up, especially with the clarity of laser printing.

    I know this may sound silly, with all the cool options this printer has, but my fave feature is that fact that it hold 150 sheets of paper! I hate having to refill and refill and refill my paper tray, and it always seems like I’m out when I’m in a hurry. That’s a great feature!

    I like that the color prints are of a quality nature. I still have one kid at home and good color is a necessity with all of the projects she does for school. Love that it is compact too!

    Love the idea of having a fast printer AND being able to print photos!! I’m always running out of certain colors in my inkjet…not fun.

    I would love the smaller size. Just downsized to smaller desk and would be great! Then again, I have been without a printer for 2 years and it would be great to have one again at all :)

    what i would like most about the dell laser printer is that it would work! Mine broke and is set outside to be recycled. I’m so upset about all the deals i’m missing out on!

    Because I have started a new photography hobby, I LOVE the
    fact that this printer will allow me to print both coupons and
    photos at home. Currently, I am using printing kiosks because
    I don’t like the photo quality of my printer at home.

    I like that it is much more cost effective than my laser jet. I am just getting started with couponing and anything else to save money would help.

    My favorite feature has to be how whisper quiet it is. I don’t always have a chance to get work on the computer until after I put the kids to bed, and I’m always afraid I’m going to wake them.

    I like that the drum and fuser unit last as long as the printer does since the drum costs a lot to replace. I also like that it is compact and can fit in my small office space. Also like that it prints more with less energy than other laser printers. Seems great all around!

    Option of energy and material saving features and can print high quality photos. And laser printer, that’s nice to have, as ink doesn’t dry out when you don’t use it that much. The size looks compact to me, not too much room.

    I like that it’s small and fast at printing . . . while I’m printing my coupons, I go ahead to the next coupon to print while printing out the previous ones! I could use a faster printer!

    This printer looks awesome. I love the fact that it tells you when the toner is low and it just looks cool. I like the speed factor as well, my printer takes way too long to print sometimes and it costs a fortune to get individual ink cartridges.
