Mail For Coupons – Do’s & Dont’s
We hope all of you are enjoying our new Mail For Coupons post series as much as we enjoy telling you about the best ways to receive high value coupons from companies! We wanted to follow up to provide you with suggestions on ways to help ensure that you will receive the coupons you are requesting. Although we cannot guarantee that you will receive the same coupons as we did, it will help your chances if you follow these guidelines.
Do:
- Personalize your inquiry.
- Compliment and be specific about what you enjoy about the products.
- Tell them when/where you buy the products.
- Inquire if they maintain a coupon mailing list.
- Thank them for their time.
Don’t
- Do not ask for free product coupons.
- Do not ask for freebies/samples.
- Do not complain about lack of coupons.
- Do not only comment with “I would like coupons”.
- Do not comment that you were informed to contact them for coupons.
Example Email:
Hello there!
Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the Aidell’s Spicy Mango with Jalapeno Sausage! I was shopping at Giant when a vendor offered me a sample and a coupon. My husband is a real grill and BBQ guy and is very picky about the meat he grills. I am happy to say Aidell’s is now my sausage of choice! The Jalapeno was enough to win my hubby over!
Please add me to your mailing list if you send out coupons.

Thanks, again!

I call Pacific Foods every month for coupons! They told me I can call monthly!

Thank you for the guidelines, I was also given a few short replies “we have no coupons at this time” or “we offer coupons in red plum inserts quarterly”. I assumed the same, that many readers were also requesting coupons and they became inundated with requests. I also received warm replies from Chobani and Earth Balance. Thanks for all your information!!

I’ve wondered if companies only send out so many coupons to people a month. Just a thought. So for instance, if 10% of FTM readers suddenly contact a company only a handful of them might actually get the coupons. I have no idea if this is true, just something I wondered about after seeing a similar thing happen on another blog several years ago that did a similar Mail For Coupons type series.

Thanks Dara. Glad you were able to get coupons also. Sorry to hear that you have received some denials as well! Unfortunately, you may or may not get the same response as we did. All of our posts are companies we had success with as well as other readers. We have confirmed all submissions and have received the coupons. We do note that you may or may not receive the same coupons. Again, thanks for sharing your experience. :)
