Starting Sunday, June 10th, there is a giftcard catalina printing at Giant/Martins. This is similar to the Gift Card Catalina printing at Weis Markets.
Offer: Purchase $50.00 of participating gift cards and get $10.00 oyno
Please note, there may be a small fee to activate your giftcard.
When you buy the gift card, you will pay $50 (the value of the cards) and get a $10.00 coupon for your next order. You essentially are making $10 on every transaction!

Just needed to share….went to Giant over lunch today and I got:
4 packs of Oscar Mayer hot dogs
2 packs of Hillshire Farm smoked sausages
And 1 pack of Giant brand potato hamburger rolls
Used $10.00 off catalina from gift card deal
$2.00 catalina from Magnum ice cream
2 Hillshire Farm coupons (for some reason they doubled both .55 coupons???)
They ended up paying ME .13 to take it!!!
(I don’t think they are suppose to pay you….that is only the second time they did that.
Normally I try not to make it be in the negatives but them doubling the other coupon put me there.)
When I came back to work and shared it with my co-workers they just don’t see the excitement of my couponing stories lol
Included in this deal are the $50 outback steakhouse which includes a bonus $10 gift card. What a deal :)
Anyone know if they have walmart gift cards? If so, are they included?
I really messed up on this “deal”. First of all, there is a $4.95 activation fee, so that makes it just a $5 profit. As another person mentioned, the catalina expires on the 17th. I bought, let’s just say, more than one and was not allowed to roll it to the next purchase. Didn’t see til later about the expiration date. Today I went back to use up those (by now, annoying!) catalinas. I carefully did my math while shopping with my 4 children under the age of 7! After I gave all my qs I then handed over the catalinas. They accepted just one as that’s what it says in the fine print (I’d missed that). I was intensley frustrated, but kept my cool there! Later I read it even says “only 1 to be used per day. My stockpile is such that I really don’t want to buy more!! My whole intent when purchasing the cards was to roll each one and end up with the Mastercards to use whenever wherever…..Be ware!!!!!
We bought 14 amazon gift cards. One store allowed us to use the catalinas to buy gift cards. The other store did not allow. It depends on the manager.
I bought the Lowes gift cards and they are part of the deal. The manager told me that the only ones not included are the Giant gift cards!
My store wasn’t marked as to which were involved other than no Giant cards. I asked customer service before I spend $50 and no cat. They had to figure out how to force it, but they did give it to me.
One caveat guys: I got the $10 cat for buying $50 in GC, but the cat expires 6/17 – so only one week to use it! Watch your exp. dates!
I bought a $50 Kohl’s card today and got $10 off my next Giant order. Then, I went to Kohl’s and spent the entire gift card and got $10 Kohl’s Cash!!! So excited!
Sara-
That is a brilliant way to roll the rewards. I have a 30% coupon for Kohl’s so was planning on going tomorrow. I will have to buy the Kohl’s giftcard first. Thanks so much for posting this!
BRILLIANT SARA!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously Sara, you are brilliant!! You get a gold star as far as I am concerned!!!
you also need to take gas points into consideration here. Wouldn’t you earn gas points for buying the gift cards and also for using the visa card to pay for groceries?
You do not earn gas points for the gift cards:( That would have been nice since I went nuts and bought $150 worth of g.c.’s this weekend.
here’s what the website says:
Buy $50 worth of Gift Cards in a single transaction with your BONUSCARD from 6/10-6/16/12 and get $10.00 OFF your next shopping visit via checkout coupon. Subject to availability. While supplies last. Not all gift cards are available in all stores. The Visa Gift Card is issued by MetaBank pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. Lowe’s and the Gable Design are registered trademarks of LF, LLC. Lowe’s is not a sponsor or co-sponsor of this event. Excludes GIANT gift cards. See gift cards for details, terms, conditions, and if applicable fees. All trademarks are property of their respective owners.
kind of vague wording. to me it sounds like ALL gift cards except Giant cards are included…
does anyone know if giant gift cards are included?
The fine print in the ad says “Excludes GIANT gift cards.”
Is there a limit?
Melissa, one catalina will print per transaction. So… if you want to buy 2 or 3 then ask to have them rung up seperately.
Do we know if this deal rolls? i.e. if I use the $10 coupon to buy another gift card will I get another $10 coupon? Thanks!
I used the $10 off to buy my 2nd gift card.
I did also. A manager had to override it everytime. They were super nice about it. My sister was buying giftcards also and the manager said they are printing a retraction on the deal saying one per person per day.
I’d say this is YMMV. I tried rolling the $10 at a self-scan in Lancaster & the Giant employee tried getting it to work, it beeped, he tried something else, but then eventually shrugged and said it wasn’t valid on another Gift Card.
Shannon – do you know if the gift card purchased count towards your gas points spend?
I hope it includes amazon!
ohh that would be NICE!
I got an Amazon Card today with the deal:)
Erica Franco – doesnt have anything other than shown there in the ad. I am guessing we will have to wait til Sunday.
@Jenny
if you spend $50 and get $10 “store credit” that’s making money. The store just gave you $10.00 “back” after spending $50.00 . In essence your spending $50 out of pocket and are now able to buy additional items worth $10.00 with the $10.00 money maker. I hope this helps a little.
You buy the 50$ gift card which you use to buy your groceries and get a 10$ off coupon so end up spending 40$ for 50$ worth of food. It is a 10$ savings.
Which gift cards does it include?
Any ideas if there will be a list like at Weis? Thankfully the lady at Weis pointed out the list they had taped to their display showing which 8-10 were included.
have no clue yet Holly until Sunday. sorry..
Ok, no problem. I guess I have to be patient.
Is that only on the gift cards in the picture or any gift cards?
What is the gift card weis deal?
Duh! I see it now…I was thinking when you buy them for someone else..haha
I’m thinking about getting the Visa gift cards. They spend like cash for bills and everything else…And even with the activation fee, it is still a money maker!! :-)
Still dont see the MM. You’re paying $50 OP and getting $10, so basically it’s $40 NET.
Jenny, when you purchase a $50.00 giftcard, you’ll get a $10.00 cat. Basically a $10.00 MM..
I dont’ see a MM? Am I missing something?
You purchase a gift card for $50. You get a $10 cat. You now have $60 to spend even though you paid $50 for it. $10 MM.
Jenny, I understand your confusion. Since you cannot get a Giant gift card as part of the deal, you would have to spend $50 on something other than groceries to get the $10. The only way this is truly a MM is if you buy a gift card for something you were truly already going to buy.
For example, my cell phone is AT&T pre-paid. If AT&T gift cards are part of the deal (don’t think they are this time), I buy my minutes in the form of the AT&T gift card instead of buying minutes online. In that case I actually do make money because I was really going to buy those minutes anyway.
If you buy a gift card for something that was not already planned for in your budget, then you have actually lost money from your budget. You might have a $10 coupon for groceries, but overall you have lost money.
Another example: If you are already planning on buying something from Lowes (again, I don’t think those cards are part of the deal this time, don’t know) and you get a Lowes gift card from Giant and use that to buy the item from Lowes, then you are $10 ahead on your overall spending.
Why couldn’t you just use it on a VISA gift card and use it like cash at GIant?
You could, but you would not be ahead $10 because of the fees involved. I don’t know the details of the fees, but I think the Visa gift cards have an activation fee of about $5 (you would have to check). You might still be ahead a few dollars, and if that works for you that’s fine. You need to find out the exact amount of the fees to decide.
You would be ahead $5.05 – so its still a $5.05 moneymaker for doing nothing, plus you can roll the catalina into the next deal.
Lowes cards are included. I purchased 4 today. I am planning on spending $600 there on something this week so the timing of this is perfect for me. I buy $600 worth of gift cards to Lowes ($50 each transaction). I get back $120 in cats to buy groceries. AWESOME!
Maureen,
BE CAREFUL! I did this last year – we were redoing our kitchen so I purchased $1500 worth because we were going to spend them. I got prior approval to use them all in one transaction by someone at customer service, otherwise I would not have purchased them.
The night I showed up to use them (waited until most people were out of store) I had a big issue with the manager on duty. He said he didn’t know anything about it and he called his head of store at home and he said he didn’t approve it. Basically, he said I could use ONE. That would mean the rest would expire the next day. After being VERY persistent, they agreed to override but they were NOT happy about it.
So, in short, make sure you will be able to use all of them! It was a horrifying experience and I was made to feel like a thief! The manager was so rude. Telling me “you show up at almost 10 at night and are trying to clear out my store”.
