We’ve Got You Totally Covered: Food Storage

Woohoo, football season officially started this Sunday. If you are an Eagles fan, like me, the season started last night!  Football season is one of my favorite times of year. It means party time!  It means lots of good times with family.  My family typically gets together all season long, enjoying the games and plenty of really good food.   We laugh a lot and have a great time.

Even though we enjoy ourselves, it is a lot of work to prep and clean up.  We always find ourselves with so much leftover food, that everyone has leftovers to take home.  We are eating Sunday Game day party food for at least 2-3 days after the game.  There is a lot of food to store and keep fresh.

In the past, I would give my family my glass containers to take food home in.  I am not sure if you know how expensive glass containers are, but they aren’t cheap. And well, my family doesn’t seem to know how to return my containers. That is right, I called my parents container thieves.  I have had to replace my containers each year after football season.  I know I can’t be the only one right?

CVS Total Home

So this year, I am getting smart.  Total Home ,available exclusively at CVS/pharmacy, to the rescue.   This year we are doing BPA free plastic containers, aluminum foil, and storage bags.   If they bring back the plastic containers, bonus. {They won’t.}

If you aren’t familiar with the Total Home line, it is a complete line of home products from aluminum foil to laundry detergent to carpet cleaner. The entire line is priced 15-20% lower than national brands, but performs just as well.

We are  really putting the Total Home food storage products to the test.  Our messy chili, sloppy enchiladas and saucy pizza roll. They are all messy and leak.  I had no worries about anyone spilling in the car, because the products are that good. I know, sometimes store brands can be inferior. This is not the case with the Total Home product. I used all of the products shown and they all passed the Shaffer  leftover test.

Total Home

My favorite food storage product?  The aluminum foil. I am really particular about aluminum foil. Total Home Aluminum foil was just as good  as the national brands.   There is both multi-purpose (great for baking) and heavy duty (great for heavy foods).  As an added bonus, the price point is great. In addition, the ExtraCare Rewards program often offers additional savings and deals on CVS Brand products, such as the Total Home line. Be sure to check the weekly ad or stop by the ExtraCare Coupon Center before you shop to save even more!

Total Home 2The easy close slider freezer bags worked out well for freezing leftovers (and were just as good as other major brands).  This is a perfect way to enjoy your leftovers later.  There is a convenient place to write your date and contents.

So all in all, I had a big win! Eagles won the game, everyone leaves with great food AND I saved money. I will be looking forward to  all of our upcoming parties and sharing food, family and fun.

Whether you are planning a big party or just have everyday food storage needs, Total Home has got you totally covered.  Total Home also offers other party needs, such as paper plates, paper cups & more. Total Home is “available exclusively at CVS/pharmacy”

    I’m embarrassed to admit that I “lose” my containers often as well– but usually because I forget them in my work backpack on Friday afternoon and they don’t look so hot on Monday when I realize they’re still in there. Yuck! I’ll have to check these out.

  • Nancy

    Great to know. I appreciate this review because I never would have thought and was always skeptical of buying these.

    Go Eagles!!! I love how they looked last night. Keeping my fingers crossed that my fav player (#10, DeSean Jackson) stays healthy and with Celek, Vick, McCoy, and the gang they continue to kick butt all season. Too bad Dallas had to win their opener too.

    • Nancy, I love love Shady McCoy! He is the REAL DEAL! Go birds.

  • Rebecca

    I will have to give their aluminum foil a try! Thanks!
