Saving On Groceries without Coupons
Groceries! One of the many items that even though you might not want to, you have to spend money on them. You’ve got to eat, right? Everyone wants to save on their groceries, but so many people think that the only way to do that is by using coupons, and that is not the case! There are quite a few ways to save without coupons.
This isn’t saying that you should use a coupon here and there to your benefit, but extreme couponing is nowhere in sight for us!
1.) Shop cheaper
Why are you going to the most expensive store in town? Is it closer to your home? Do you prefer their service over others? If there isn’t a very good reason, it’s time to change it up! There are many grocery store options out there and it varies by city and state, but it will be in your best interest to find the one that has the least expensive foods. Doing this alone could cut your grocery bill down my 20% or more.
2.) Eat healthier
Believe it or not, it’s NOT expensive to eat healthy. The trick is that when you decide to eat healthy you can’t simply just start buying the healthy food, you have to stop buying the junk food! Of course it’s going to be more expensive if you keep buying both kinds of food! Stop buying those boxed snacks and sugar free, fat free, items. You don’t need them! Fruits and veggies are cheaper and healthier than those items.
3.) Meal Plan
If you take the time to sit down just once a week for a few minutes and plan out what you are going to eat each day, your grocery bill will get much cheaper. Instead of going to the store and buying everything that you see because you aren’t sure what you want or need, you can have a detailed list of what you are going to eat for the week and what you need to make those foods. No more extra items, and no more going back to the grocery store three times a week. Only buying what you need and will eat for the week will save you quite a bit of money.
4.) Store Rewards
Another great way to save on groceries is by signing up for a store rewards program for where you shop. Most places have these available and reward points can add up quickly allowing you to save even more when you shop the next time.
The next time that you are at the store and think to yourself how you are spending a bit too much on groceries, take a look at what you are buying and what you could do to make your bill a bit cheaper.
What ways do you save on groceries?
Debbie says
I have to disagree on the healthy food not being expensive. Eating healthy with fresh fruit and veggies is much more expensive than eating processed food. This is why some families struggle with eating better. I know personally when I buy nothing but produce my grocery bill is much higher and doesn’t go as far. I can buy 2 weeks worth of processed food for less than 5 days of fresh healthy food.
