Social Buying is still a relatively new phenomenon. Honestly, I wasn’t really sold on how it could work for me. I know some of you commented that you aren’t really sure about Groupons and similar buying sites. So, I wanted to show you how you can put these Groupon deals to work for you.
Gap
I used my Groupon that was available a few weeks ago. Basically, I paid $25 for a $50 certificate to GAP. Yesterday, GAP had an additional 40% off already marked down prices. I was able to get 5 boys long sleeved shirts and 2 boys sweatshirts for $26.01 or $3.71 each with the Groupon. The original retail price $126.50. Now, there is no way that I would ever pay full retail price for these shirts – but this Groupon makes it a fabulous deal with the clearance sale.
Shoebuy
I also used the $40 Shoebuy Groupon that was $20 to score these $72.00 winter boots (yep, it get super cold here) for just $20.00. They were on sale for $37.98 on Shoebuy – with free shipping. In the end, these boots cost me $20.00 shipped (plus I got a pair of socks).

I bought a $30 groupon for Beauty.com for $15. Rite Aid sent a recent email with a link that ran a special for Rite Aid customers – get a free Stila Lip Gloss (a $22 retail value) for FREE if you placed an order. I ordered some makeup I needed, got free shipping plus the $22 lip gloss. I love Groupon!

I got the $25 for $100 worth of Picaboo a few weeks back. I just ordered my free book for first-time customers, and the B1G1F books that they were offering through yesterday. I paid for one book and shipping with part of the Groupon, will get 3 books out of the deal, (one for me, and a Xmas present for my mom and MIL) and still have the majority of the Groupon left over to get more books when they offer more good deals!
There’s a few good ones right now, the movie tickets and a spa package right now in the city where my mom lives, but we are broker-than-broke, so they’ll have to wait for the next go-round.
I posted on Facebook about my Gap Groupon score. I got $194 worth of stuff for my Groupon certificate plus $.27!! I didn’t know about the denim club thing but here is what I got: 4 pairs of kids jeans, 2 pairs of kids leggings, 1 kids t-shirt, 1 pair of kids capris, 1 kids polo…..I think that’s it? I hope to get other store certificates like this soon because that was perfect!

I guess I need to understand the whole Groupon thing – I have been on an email list for it for a long time and it seems it is always food I get notified on. Am I doing something wrong?
I did the $20 for $40 at diapers.com that was available on Thursday. Friday, I bought 1 pack Huggies Sung & Dry Size 1/2 Value Pack for 37.99 and 1 pack Huggies Little Snugglers size 1 giant case for 36.99. After the voucher was applied it only cost me 31.98, and they have free shipping. We are stocking up now when we see good deal as baby girl is due in November. We are hoping to have toddler boy out of diapers soon.
Today I purchased the soap.com deal which is great for us as we just moved into our new house and need some new cleaning supplies since we couldn’t ship them with our household stuff from our last house.
I scored the great deal at the kids gap this weekend too with my Groupon. I also did the shoebuy and if you register while checking out you saved an additional 5$ and I used ebates which gave me 10% back! So I bought a 60$ pair of Pumas for my husband on sale for 45 plus saving the additional 5$ for registering took me down to 40$ which I used the GC) and I got back 4.95 in ebates so I really got the sneakers for 15$

Schweeet Deal!
I bought the fandango ticket groupon ($4 for one admission) and combined it with an offer on fandano’s website (order free shirt and just pay shipping from Vistaprint and get free ticket) and got 2 movie tickets for about $9. I saved $13 bucks and printed out the Regal Cinema free popcorn facebook coupon for a nice date with my hubby!
