“My Coupon Says to Redeem it at Walmart. Will my store accept the coupon?” This is a common question . You have printed a coupon from Coupons.com, Red Plum, or SmartSource and you wanted to use it at another retailer, but it has Walmart written all over it? What do you do? Will your store accept it? Well, the answer is..yes & no.
Coupons.com gives us this answer:
The coupons printed at Coupons.com usually manufacturer coupons and should be accepted any retailers that take printable coupons. A coupon may say “Redeemable at Walmart” or “Available at Walmart”, but that is a suggestion to use it at that store.
If you are new to couponing, there are three types of coupons you will print from these sites. Manufacturer Coupons, Manufacturer with a store logo, and store coupons.
Manufacturer Coupon (has a suggested store printed on it)
Manufacturer Coupon (has a store logo printed on it)
Store Coupon

My Kroger is so convinced that people using coupons are stealing from them that you can’t use self-checkout and scan the coupons yourself. It says “do you have any coupons?” and when you click yes it says to hand them to the self-checkout cashier. They have to scan them with their handheld thing before you can continue. Absolutely ridiculous.

CVS won’t “officially” take coupons with other store logos on them anymore even if they are manufacturer coupons. You can still fine an occasional store that will do it though.

yes it doesn’t seem to matter if I understand the difference because stores seem to just make up their own rules. I usually ask before using but I get irritated when I lose out on a deal because they don’t understand the difference.

Yes, I agree.. Its ultimately going to be up to the store to use their own discretion. This is why I prefer to use self checkout or go to a cashier that I know.

even using self checkout i’ve found that some don’t scan and then when I have them override them they give me trouble. Oh well. Win some you lose some. I’m just glad coupons are out there to save us money.

I’ve had LOTS of problems at all different stores with these types of printables. To be honest, the only time I normally don’t have an issue is if I am using a self checkout. I hate that they put the Walmart “suggestions” on so many coupons as many of my stores refuse to accept them…although they are valid manufacturer’s coupons, sooooo frustrating!!

I agree…. the self-checkout has become my best friend
