There are some reported issues with the Hershey Park deal at Giant. It appears as though the promo is a mess.
It seems as though the second ticket isn’t be triggered on some transactions. Note – this is happening when people are spending more than $75 after coupons, so there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the problem. Reader Jennie needed 6 tickets for her family and tried with no coupons and only got one ticket.
For those of you who are being told it is after coupons, I am not sure that this is the issue. There are people who are getting it after coupon prices.
I am debating holding off on this and hoping they get it fixed!
If anyone has any updates, leave it in the comments.

I really LOVED the Hershey Park tickets deal last week. I ended up spending around $127 out of pocket for TONS of items and got vouchers for 8 adult tickets! What a sweet way to spend a few days this summer! Amongst other items, we have LOTS of Crystal Light and Ritz Crackerfulls!
Do you have to go before 8/12 or can you get the tickets and go at a later date? Does anyone know? I was planning on going late August or early September. Our summer is just so busy. TIA
8/12 is the date.
Shannon, I just spoke to Guest Services at Hersheypark and she told me that you have to redeem the voucher by 8/12 to get tickets, but you can use the tickets whenever…even late September. That is great news :)
I can confrim that as well. We live in the Hershey area and went to Hershey Park yesterday. We used one of the vouchers to get into the park and cashed in the second voucher for a ticket that is good for the rest of the regular season. We are fortunate we are local and can go anytime to cash in the voucher, but wanted to avoid the lines later in the summer.Voucher must be redeemed by 8/12 as mentioned above.
We are local as well (well kind of) I go to the Hershey Outlets so I will just redeem ours then and go later in the season to miss the crowds and miss the heat (only way my husband will go) :)
I’m so disappointed. We always have redeemed our coupon by the “redeem by” date and then used our tickets later. I drove an hour to Hershey to redeem the coupon and the lady told me no way, today is the use by date. I told her it said “redeem”, not “expire” or “use by” and they had always let us previous years. She said sorry. I have a call in to Hershey.
is this a deal they do every year? i’m afraid of buying the stuff and not being able to go by the 8/12 deadline. our summer is so busy this year…
I never count on anything every year with the stores.
I am from Delaware County and stopped in at the Giant Food Store in Brookhaven. My total before swiping my card or coupons was $121, after my card and coupons, my total was $57….and I got the 2 HP tickets with no problem. Did notice that not all of the items had the HP tags, but they still rang up correctly. Carry your sale paper, get the list from customer service, and match up the weights (oz/lbs) of the correct items and you should have no problem. Good luck!
The problem is that a lot of customer service managers are saying that the voucher will print after coupons which is absolutely not true. I had one customer service tell me, after she added my total and deducted the coupons, that I got spend only 49.00 after coupons. I told her I did hit the 75.00 but in her infinite wisdom, she told me I got lucky that I even got one. I asked her why then wasn’t I lucky enough to get two. I did get my second ticket after being in the store for half hour. I have done this deal many times and the key is to get items that listed in the flier under the HP deal.
The first 3 times I got my 2 tickets, my order had been over $75, but after coupons I paid much less than that. Today I was in the store and purchased items that were on the back of the little tearpad thats oll over the store. This time my purchases were $76 and change and after coupons $59, only one certificate printed out. The customer service lady wanted to argue with me up and down that it was after coupons. I told her that I got it the other day and she told me I shouldn’t have, it was a glitch. I’ll be going to a different giant tonight and will just get all crystal light and use my 30 some odd crystal light coupons. I think the lady was just seriously lacking customer service skills.
The key to this deal is to get just the items listed on the backpage. Don’t go for anything that has the tags but is not listed on the ad. I did it twice and twice had problems until I did with just the items listed on the ad. No problems and I will go back for more.
I can confirm that the Hershey promo deal that works even if you use coupons . I bought the Kraft Mayo, the A1 Marinade and the Crystal Light. The total before coupons was 51.75 and I used coupons for all the items that I purchased, I don’t have my receipt here with me so I can’t list the number of items I bought . I had done the deal twice earlier in the week but I purchased a couple of items that had the Hershey promotion tag at the store but were not listed in the ad. This time I opted to purchase just three of the items listed on the backpage of the ad and it worked with no problem at all. So the issue is not the use of coupons, it is that some of the items that have tags are not part of the promotion or were not coded correctly. So to be safe, I suggest that in order for this deal to go smoothly, just purchase the items listed on the ad.
Also, I would carefuly observe that Catalina machine and make sure it is working and giving out catalinas. If your store still has the Combos snack, I would do that transaction first, then do the Hershey deal transaction.
No problems at the Linden St store in Bethlehem. After coupons, I spent about $50, and received my printout for 2 tickets as well as 200 gas points. They were all out of Aquafina, and the Oscar Meyer lunchmeat listed in the flyer wasn’t tagged on the shelf as being part of the deal, but it went through anyway. I know that several posters mentioned problems when buying dairy items, but I bought several with no issues.
I was at the Springfield, PA Giant today & bought over $75 worth of Kraft & Pepsi products. The cheese & Breakstone sour cream items were tagged as Hershey Park deals so I got the $3 WYB 6 promo, too. No problems finding everything & the shelves were stocked very well. I made sure that my total was more than $75 after coupons and the register printed one voucher for TWO free admissions.
Just wanted to report on the Carlisle PA Giant… I had 76.90 after Bonuscard savings but before coupons…. coupons brought it down to 69.80. I only got one ticket. Went to customer service and they were really nice and printed out another one for me. At this store you have to be at 75 after coupons… I asked and customer service said that yes, it is after coupons… seems like ad in paper should say it is after all coupons and savings. Like others have noted, I also had two Kraft shredded cheese bags – I double checked that they were included (they were listed on the tearpad sheet and had the tag on the shelf….)
Come to think of it, I think the same thing happened to me last year at this store – I hit the total before coupons, but after coupons was below and the catalina didn’t print…. Have to say that Giant customer service is great, however – they didn’t give me any problems last year either!
They are very particular on what items are part of the deal. Not all pepsi and kraft products are included. If you go to customer service desk, they have a sheet that has all items that are included.
I bought $76 worth of products and had $21 worth of coupons. My total after coupons were $55 and recieved my voucher for 2 Free Hershey Park Tickets.
Let me add to this post that I am in Red Lion, PA, our ad, in small detail says (Voucher will print with eligible purchases. Purchases must be met after all BONUS BUY deals and must be made in a single transaction with your BONUS CARD. Offer valid 6/19-6/25/11.)
I would suggest if you want more than one voucher, that you split your transaction into increments of $75. For instance, if you are buying $150 worth of products that you split it into two transaction so that you get (2) Vouchers for 2 free tickets.
My first transaction worked perfectly. Hopefully this will help your trip to Giant less stressful.
I did the Huggies deal 1st
3 Huggies
Total 26.00 before coupons and $18 after.
Then for the HP deal I bought:
10 Crystal Lights
10 Al Marinades
6 Kraft Cheese
5 Jell-O Temptations
4 A1 Steak Sauce
Total: $75.81 before coupons and 33$ after (also using the $7 from the Huggies deal)
I did have to go ask about the 2nd ticket, but after showing them it is not after coupons they gave us the 2nd ticket.
Grand Total OOP $51
+ Two HP Tickets
+ .20 cents off in gas
Not a bad deal!!
Did the $75.00 deal yesterday. I bought only items marked with shelf tags saying they were part of the deal, and nothing extra. My total came to $76.10 without coupons, and I used coupons to get it down to about $60.00. The HP tickets printed off without a problem! The fine print on the flyer says, “…after all bonus buy deals” so I didn’t use any Giant coupons (like the 5% rewards points), but the manufacturer coupons weren’t a problem.
I had troubles too. Before coupons, my total was $75.53 in eligible products and a $1.19 loaf of bread. My total after coupons was $43.xx. It printed me one ticket voucher. I went to customer service and heard the after coupon line. I showed her if it was *after coupons, I shouldn’t have had the 1 print since I was below $50OOP. I had to go back the next day due to an issue with scanning the special barcode to get the ticket voucher to print, but I did get my other ticket. There was another woman there who spent $78 before coupons and $70 after and hers didn’t work either. Stuff is probably coded wrong, just like usual with the gas points. I need 2 more tickets still. I am hoping by Friday it’s figured out and they still have items.
Shannon – I called a local Giant (West Chester, PA) and was told that this offer is only valid for totals after all coupons and discounts. I think I’m going to call around and see if the policy holds true to the other local Giants.
(I can’t afford to try with the coupons and not make out if this is the case)
Thanks for all of your posts! Your site has been EXTREMELY helpful to me!
Jenn that is the standard canned answer you will get at every store. If you read some of the ladies comments here you will see that its just not the case. They say that for every promo.. the tickets are not printing for people who are buying $75 without any coupons either. Something must be wrong with the coding.
I’m thrilled that it is working (for some), I’ve been keeping my eye on all of these posts (you guys are awesome!!) just a little aprehensive for it not to work. It was the general answer after calling 4 local Giants….I think I will try anyway though.
Again, thanks so much! :)
I live in the same area that you do and yes, all the local Giants are saying that the total of 50.00 or 75.00 has to be after coupons but on the ad it only states after discounts. I had a very hard time the two times that I did this deal but I got one item that is not listed in the flier. A coupon is not a discount and people who are getting the tickets with no problems are buying the items listed on the flier. I’m going to do the deal again and buying only the items listed on the flier, I will post how I do this time.
Also, just in case anyone had this issue – I thought that the Jello Temptations items were refrigerated items based on the coupons that I had brought with me. I asked 2 different stock boys and they agreed that it was a refrigerated item and that the store I went to (Camp Hill) didn’t carry the product and I should go to the nearest store (Mechanicsburg). I was nearly done with my shop and didn’t want to start over at a new store so I sent my hubby to get sodas to make up for the difference and he found the Jello Temptations on an end cap – they are boxed items!! Thought I would pass that along!!
I also found this product and it was located on the bottom shelf where they keep instant pudding. Hopefully this helps :)
I went to the Giant in Camp Hill, PA yesterday and got over $75 worth of participating products for the HP deal. At checkout, I got the OM $4 catalina but only one ticket printed at the register. I asked the cashier and they directed me to customer service. When I went to the CS desk the young female cashier didn’t even ask to see my receipt, she just used a special bar code to generate the 2nd ticket. Knowing how much trouble people have been having on the site, I asked if this has been happening to a lot of people to see her response. She said that it is generally only happening to people who did the $75 offer but they have remedied it everything it has happened by printing out tickets at CS at that particular store. Glad to know CS is righting the wrong, but I wonder why it’s happening to begin with. (It might be worth noting that I did purchase 2 Kraft items and a Breakstones Sour Cream – the cheese seems to be a common thread that people with $75 printout issues are having).
Before using any coupons or my club card last night, my bill was $138.70. After using my card and coupons, my bill was only $63.80. I got a catalina for 2 free tickets to Hershey Park. I was so excited! It doesnt pay for me to buy a ticket because I dont ride any roller coasters. Excited to take my little one for her first time :)
I did my 2nd transaction today after receiving my coupons from a clipper. I spent $76 before coupons (buying 16 1lb lunchmeats and 18 salad dressings). It rang up $60 after coupons. I got a voucher for 2 Hershey Park tickets again with no problem. I even got Catalinas from my lunchmeat purchases. The first time I went, I purchased assorted items from the flyers. Spent $77 before coupons and $55 after (with a $4 Catalina back). It also printed a ticket for 2 tickets. I dont know if this makes a difference, but both times I checked out, I used the self checkout machines and they worked great.
I have done the deal twice with only the items listed in the flier and used tons of coupons… rec’d 4 ticket :)
Yay!!! The deal worked as smooth as could be! Everything was well stocked and marked well with shelf tags. Did the $75 and used LOTS of coupons and my voucher for the two free tickets printed out. My total was only about $40 out of pocket and I was able to get the 200 gas points too:] Thanks for all the information and match ups-this was a fun deal to do!!
i went to the giant.. my total came to 19.01 after a ton of coupons! i got two tickets! the first time i did it, i spent 75 and didnt get anything, had to take it to the desk.. so weird! i will do it again tomorrow , for another twenty bucks, we get two more tickets and tons of yummy snacks!
What coupons did you use to get it down that low? The best I can come up with is getting two tickets for around $50. TIA.
What did you buy? Could you please email your list if you don’t mind.
Thank you
Maria,
I am not going to publish your comment … you really don’t want your email posted here.
Thanks Shannon, didn’t really think of that.
I went to a Giant in Frederick, MD tonight (6/20) and had no problems. I spent $76.91 after coupons and bonus card savings and got 1 voucher for 2 tickets…just as I expected. The manager at my Giant said they’ve had inconsistencies in people getting the voucher pre and post coupons. I didn’t want to risk it so I just made sure to hit $75 after my coupons. They were totally out of Aquafina! There are $1/2 coupons on Pepsi…makes it a bit of a better deal.
I went to the Giant in Shamokin Dam yesterday and did 3 separate $75 transactions using exactly the items in the ad. I only got 5 tickets but was able to take the receipt to customer service and they triggered the 6th ticket for me. I also got the $4 OM lunchmeat catalina.
Today I went to the Giant in Danville and did the $50 deal for the 7th ticket I needed using the Gas deal items. I only chose items that were listed in the ad for the gas deals and were tagged on the shelves for Heshey. This one went off without a hitch!
I used coupons for all 4 transactions that brought my totals down below the $50 or $75 mark. I would imagine they just don’t have all of the individual items coded correctly in their system but unless you did a whole transaction with just a single item, it would be impossible to identify!
Can you list which items you bought?
I think it would help a lot of people. I had problems because I choose one item that was marked on the shelf as being part of the promotion but it wasn’t listed on the flyer. I think I will go back and get the items listed in the flyer. Customer service manager gave me a hard time at the occasions but the actual store managers were great. Some people wonder why some people in management get paid more than others but I think education and training helps these store managers understand the importance of customer satisfaction.
I’m actually aprehensive to try for another two. I believe some of the items are coded wrong.
Sorry Ruth, if you replied to someone it didnt come thru as a reply.
Can you list the items you purchased? Thanks.
Not sure if this is the problem or not, but do people know that even if you earn the TWO tickets only ONE (red) paper voucher prints out stating “Redeem for TWO free tickets…”? I did the $75 deal this morning, and one voucher printed out stating that it was good for two tix.
Hope whatever it is gets resolved soon.
I did the 75 dollar deal and one voucher printed out stating 1 free ticket…..It was resolved through customer service who generated another for me.
I had the same thing happen tonight. Do your vouchers have 2 different numbers one the side below the bar code? The one that customer service had to generate has the same number as my first on and I wanted to be sure that was correct.
I went last night and had ZERO problems. The problem maybe that you have to have only the marked items and they have to be added up at the sale price, not the original price. I used coupons. My bill came to 95 without discounts, 60 with, and I received ONE coupon for TWO tickets.
I ONLY rang in things for the promotion, and didn’t even pick up milk just to be sure in case there was a problem. I noticed in my store, only certain flavors of certain items were marked, while ALL flavors of other items were marked, so I only chose things that had the tag. I’m not going to do it again till later in the week. (I need two more tickets.)
I spent $80 (after coupons) yesterday on the specific products and only 1 ticket printed out. I took my receipt to customer service, they double checked that I had at least $75 in products; they were able to use a special code to trigger another ticket for me. I now have 2 tickets! I asked if I could buy anothaer $75 in the select products and get 2 more tickets and she said yes.
I needed six tickets – I did my first order and only one printed out. Second order printed out two no problem. Third order printed out only one again. Both times the customer service was awesome and just triggered another coupon to print. I shopped at the Giant in Feasterville and also Fairless Hills. One of the orders include the Kraft Cheese but they didn’t question it (the hangtags were up saying they were part of the promotion). Be on the lookout for $1 off soda coupons on the 24 packs of the Pepsi Products.
