Check out the update on this deal before you head out!
I ran over to Rite Aid to check out the First Aid deal.
Buy any first aid item and get a $2.00 Coupon good on any Rite Aid Skin Care. I purchased two in one transaction and got (2) of the $2.00 Coupons.
- Hydrogen Peroxide $1.59
- Rubbing Alcohol $1.99
- Rite Aid Bandages $2.99
- Rite Aid Sterile Bandages $2.29
- Rite Aid Petroleum Jelly $2.99
- Alcohol Wipes $3.79
The Hydrogen Peroxide and Alcohol seem to be on sale for buy one, get one 50% off in most places.
I have a 20% discount, so the prices were slightly cheaper. I purchased one at a time and rolled them to purchase the next one. I bought a total of 7 items and received the coupon.
*Note – The coupon is good for skin care — which is a broad coupon. I asked the manager at the store and she says that she would count any of the items above as skincare – and the coupon scanned fine.

Also as an update, one store told me if the register allows it, they will accept these toward anything. (Which I did not do b/c my interpretation of the intention of the coupon made that seem unethical.)
Later at another store, the clerk and manager on duty would not let me redeem the coupon toward first aid b/c their interpretation of “skin care” is body lotion.
So I conclude that there were no rules and no one was informed on the intended use and result. I believe that RA is trying (scrambling desperately) to come up with a way to offer deals to get people in the store without losing money from fraud and abuse. Unfortunately, it seems they are doing so “on the fly” as it comes to them.
On a side note, I do not usually take advantage of deals to this extent…some of this was a “let’s see what happens if I do this…” while trapped during a downpour. Part of me is ashamed I aquired so much (which I did not realize since they were keeping the purchases behind the counter for me). I do not encourage that sort of excessive buying and I have given away all but a handful of the items.

I bought 4 peroxides on Tuesday and used my 2-$2 ones from the day before when I bought 2 bottles (at a different store) and I received nothing. Do I just take them back or will the Manager do anything for me?
Shannon says
Since this was an undavertised deal and could change at any time, I think you may have a hard time getting a manager to do anything.. returning may be your only option.

I purchased 4 Rubbing Alcohols and 4 Peroxides and i got back 8 $2 off’s. Im guessing theres no limit.

Just back from Rite Aid – I bought 2 peroxide and 2 containers of rubbing alcohol… only 1 coupon printed. The cashier told me to call Customer Service. RA Customer Service told me that it does not print for EVERY item, it is random. I told her this information was different from I was told from my local store manager and she said this information just came from the Corporate Office today. She also told me that I could take the items back for a refund. I asked her if I would be reimbursed because I used my +UP rewards and she said yes, the store should give a gift card for the full amount. :(
Shannon says
Nicole, I am going to repost this on my first post.
Corlien says
Hey, Shannon,
How long is this deal going on where you get a $2 coupon when you buy Rite Aid Skin Care products?? I am glad it looks like the coupons can be used like regular UPs. Is this really true?? That would be great, as I have a lot now. Thanks for any insights. :)

Great way to get this deal to stop. It states on the coupon its for a SHIN CARE ITEM. This is why all the deals are stopping in stores.
rs says
why?

Its working in Wilmington, DE! I was able to buy 2 more bottles of peroxide along with a gallon of milk. Used two $2 qs from earlier purchase and paid change for my milk. I guess it doesn’t have to be a full $2 worth. I’m gonna donate some of this stuff.

I bought the buy one get one 50% alcohol and got 2 /$2.00 up rewards. The lady who checked me out explained that it says “rite aid brand skin care” on the coupon, but it can be used on anything. It just is telling you that you bought a rite aid brand skin care to earn the coupon. Also nice is that it doesn’t expire until the end of August!

Btw the epson salt worked too!
darreena says
Are these coupons or up rewards?
Shannon says
coupons.
Tami R. says
Okay Shannon, maybe you can help me wrap my head around the experience I had today regarding this deal, since you say these are ‘coupons’ and not +UP rewards. Here is what happened:
Transaction #1: I purchased two hydrogen peroxide BOGO 50% off. I paid with +UP rewards so everything went thru smoothly and it did print two $2 off Rite Aid Brand Skin Care ‘coupons.’
Transaction #2: I purchased two rubbing alcohol bottles. One at $1.99 and the other $.99 with the BOGO 50% off deal. My total came to $2.98 plus tax. I handed the cashier my two $2 ‘coupons’ expecting her to just price adjust as they do with any other coupon that has a face value that is more than the item itself. She told me that I needed to spend $.02 to use both coupons (Why $0.2 and not $1.02 to make the $4, I don’t know). This made no sense to me being that they look like a coupon to me and explained my thought process in why I thought she should price adjust and my total should end up zero. She didnt give. So I asked her to have a manager come over and the manager said she has no idea how she would price adjust this and she only accepted one $2 coupon. So I ended up paying $ 1.22 cash.
Here is my question. Being that this is a coupon, shouldn’t they zero it out? How did your transaction play out? Did you end up getting them for free? Also, I was told by another cashier that they can just write off up to a certain amount of cents if you don’t want to buy another item. But this manager got a little huffy when I brought it up and said that is not the truth. Im confused. I really want to get a clear picture of how this scenario is SUPPOSED to work. If I have to contact Rite Aid customer service to have something in writing, so be it. I hate looking like I’m trying to pull a scam. Can you please clarify for me? Thank you so much for your help and your great blog!
Tami R. says
BTW, my coupon does say good “on 1 purchase only of at least $2 of eligible product mentioned.” Maybe that is the issue? But then how is everyone else getting away with like 25 bottles of peroxide when they are $1.49 and not $2.00 or more? HELP!!!!!!
charolyn says
I looked at that too & realized all the +UPs (even the usual ones) are worded this way-it just means you can’t get money back for your +UPs & your purchase must equal at least this much).
Shannon says
Tami,
I had to be over $2.00 each time, no adjustments. They are doing an unadvertised test run of this coupon concept – and I dont think there are any hardfast rules yet. I think I do remember the coupon saying on the purchase of $2.00, but I dont have one right with me.
Liza says
But since J, above, was able to use several to make the Calydryl free, it sounds like they are able to be used similarly to UPs?
Stephan says
To be honest, I used them to purchase fillers, too. Wanted to minimize OOP and bought candy, and the UP worked on that, too.
I am not sure if the “2$ off skin care” is supposed to mean that you can only use it on these items. I think it simply states why you got this UPR, as it says the same on other UPR, Like 5$ from Samy fat foam” or so… I know, slightly different, but…
I never saw an UPR that is limited in use, neither does the coupon policy restrict the use of certain UPR, so I will just use them on anything.
amber says
I 100% agree and so does my store manager. They said i can use them as i would any other up reward and that there is no limit on this deal… they said “have at it!” but then again- they LOVE ME! I try to treat them well!
so far i have rolled my $8 up rewards that I started with and since buying first aid items I have piled up about 42.00 in these $2 coupons… I will keep rolling them on the epsom and peroxide since those things are perfect for my husband who uses them to clean his tools!
Tami R. says
Interesting. I am going to try and use them on anything. I just found out from customer service that the cashier can only adjust $.01 off for the up so if you bought something for $.99 then they can accept the $1.00 +UP reward. No more than $.01 though, whcih doesnt make sense to me because if you choose to “throw away” a few cents, that only works in their favor. Anyway, thanks for all of the input and info.
J says
Liz,
Just to clarify, each purchase did have to be at least $2 of skin care related items…but they let me use as many as I wanted towards the total skin care purchase since it read “purchase” and not “item.” So each time I paid a small amount of overage since it is hard to get things to add up to exact multiples of 2.
They really didn’t know what the rules were. They were just as intrigued with how it worked as I was.

Ok, I stopped at a store on the way to work and tried this out…then after I left work I stopped at a different store. Here is what I learned.
Store #1:
The manager and employees had no idea this was going on and had never seen a coupon like it before. I did three transactions there and learned that only stuff in the “first aid” aisle generate coupons, not the lotions and sanitizers. However, you can use the coupons to buy lotions and sanitizers.
Store #2:
Apparently this has been going on since last week according to the cashier. The manager has no idea if there is a limit and did not impose one. They were more than willing to do multiple transactions as I “tested” products and combinations, but I did step aside when someone else would come to the register. (It was also a downpour so no one was in a hurry to go back outside!) I eventually stopped when I had 37 items and spent $7.42 total b/c I had more than enough for myself, my family and some to send to the shelter and some of these things do expire.
I used several $2q’s generated from this to make the generic caladryl free, something we rip throug since our house is surrounded by poison. Also bought zinc oxide, all of which generated more q’s. I asked if they knew which items generated the q, but they said they were entirely unaware. I still have $4 to spend, but you have to show some restraint.
One other interesting point, when I inquired about a limit, they basically told me that since it wasn’t advertised, they were not afraid of “shelf-clearing” issues and I could have as much as I wanted. I found that fascinating.
Grace says
What other items did you try? Just curious.
J says
Grace,
I think Epsom salts, bandaids, and sterile gloves…but I hear they changed the promo since then.

Shannon,
Peroxide is not something I usually buy or keep on hand, but I want to run down to RA and get some b/c I love “getting the deal” Am I addicted to this couponing? Sometimes I feel like I spend small amounts of money ( $4,$5,$6 ) oop here and there to build up my supply of goods at home, but, it may be for things I don’t necessarily need, and those small amounts can add up quickly. I do have plenty of toothpaste, shampoo, mouthwash, etc. which is a good thing, but, do you ever need to take a break so you don’t burn out. I feel like I can’t b/c I may miss a deal!
Shannon says
I always take breaks! You don’t have to do every deal Maddie. I skip ALOT of them. In fact, I have taken most of the summer off. I have a 9 year old boy, who is ALWAYS cutting himself playing baseball or playing outside, so for me this was a chance to get things I use on a regular basis and normally not on sale, free/cheap.
Maddie says
I’m taking some time off, too. I’ll start back up next week when the Keri lotion is on sale at Walgreens ( never used it, but its pricey, so its a good time to try it, I guess ).
PS I really like your website. Its easy to read and navigate.
Michele says
Does your store mind that you do several transactions? My employees are not the friendliest and I think they would be quite annoyed if I did this.
Jessica A says
Both stores I go to don’t mind if I do several transactions in one line, but I make sure I don’t have another person behind me. I usually wait until no one is near the front register then I make my move. I go to the same stores pretty often and they know me fairly well. It helps to build relationships with the store associates so they’re more helpful and friendlier. :0)
Stephan says
I got 24 bottles of rubbing alcohol so far (for the horses) and they all printed…
Nicole says
Does anyone know when this deal ends?
laura says
Can anyone report a limit on this? I purchased 4 items in one transaction, got 4 2 UPs and then did it again one more time. I’d like to buy more than just 4 items per transaction.
Tedi says
My RA has the same deal as Kathie’s. I bought 2 bottles of peroxide at B1G150%, for a total of about $2 (with 10% discount) and I got 2 coupons for $2 each. Does anyone know what the limit of this offer is?
Kathie says
Just got back from Rite-Aid. Not sure about the other stores, but, the one I went to, the alcohol and peroxide are Buy 1, Get On 50% off. Bought 4 in one transaction and received $8 +UP.
Carolyn says
Kathie,
My Rite-Aid is the same. Southern-Chester Co/PA. area.
