Apple Recipes Roundup

Evan and I went to the Apple Orchard this weekend. We ended up with wayyy more apples than we needed. I suppose we got caught up in the moment.  I have been looking around for some apple recipes. I posted over on the International Delight Blog Frog Community – a request for some apple recipes.

I figured I couldn’t be the only person looking for recipes,so I thought I would share some of the recommendations.

  • Beautiful pictures- beituaful spot. I’ve never actually been ‘apple picking’ other than picking one or two from my Grammie’s tree each year. What do you end up doing with all your apples?

  • Danae

Made the oatmeal in my 6-quart slow cooker last night. I cooked it for 6 hours, and it was still overdone :( Don’t make my mistake! Double it or use a smaller crockpot if you can.

    • Shannon

Oh yeah too much heat Danae. Does your crockpot have a warm only setting.

  • It’s not really a “recipe” but this is our family’s current favorite way to eat apples:

  • Kristin

I’m making the Slow-cooker Vanilla applesauce right now… can’t wait!!

  • Irene

I think I might hit the orchards tomorrow! That applesauce looks great! Does anyone know if it’s freezable after its made?

  • Beth S

I made these apple fritters just last week, and my family loved them! (I did too, of course!) They were very easy to make!! I altered the recipe a tad here and there, and will probably triple the batch and freeze some next time! Super yummy!

  • Alisha

This is the best apple pie I have ever tried. Instead of putting walnuts in the topping, we use pecans. Enjoy!!!

  • John

Thought I’d give the apple pie bread a try. It’s in the oven now and won’t be done for an hour. With that said, I won’t be able to tell you how it is/turns out until breakfast.

  • Debbie R.

Shannon, let me know when you start making all of these yummy receipes. I will come over and be your taste tester! It’ll be a rough job, but I can do it! hehe

  • Ana

Thank you for the recipes! I also returned from an orchard with 40lbs of apples and I am the only apple eater in the family

  • Carolyn

My tummy is saying yummy! but my thighs & rear-end are saying noooooo! haha I think I shall try each one of these!!!!

  • Abby is one of the few things my cooking-challenged self can do well. I always get compliments on this one and it’s super easy.

I like using golden delicious apples (doubling what this recipe uses) and you can easily make lower fat/cal substitutions. (IE., applesauce for the oil and half splenda, half sugar.) I’ve also made it in a square pan instead of a bunt pan without problem. Yum.
