How To Make Your Kitchen Look Like The Maids Just Left
Not all of us can afford a cleaning service, but we want to definitely make sure our home is spotless. You can maintain a clean kitchen by creating a consistent schedule. Use the following timetable to make your kitchen sparkle and shine and look like the Maids just left.
Cabinets: Go from top to bottom. Mix a 50/50 solution of vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle. Spray on cabinets, let sit for a minute or two and then wipe clean with a microfiber cloth. Wipe down refrigerator and dishwasher doors too with this solution.
Stove – When the stove is cool, spray distilled white vinegar and sprinkle baking soda over it. Moisten a towel in hot water and drape it over the baking soda and vinegar. After about 10 minutes, pick up the towel and use it to scrub the stovetop clean, rinsing often.
Countertops – Different countertops require different cleaning methods. However, for most countertops, it is safe to use a mild dishwashing solution and a sponge. After you have removed everything from the counter, Scrub your countertops from back to front in an “S” pattern. Buff with a clean cloth. Create a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water to disinfect the surface. If your counters have really lost their luster, try using club soda to give them a shine. This will also work on your stainless steel appliances.
Microwave – Loosen the grime by filling a microwave-safe bowl with 2 cups water and ½ cup vinegar. Heat it on full power for 3-4 minutes until it comes to a boil. Let the steam fill the microwave, then wipe down the interior walls with a sponge. Take out the plate and place it in the sink with oven grates. If you’re microwave smells of burnt popcorn, try placing a bowl of baking soda inside to cut the odor.
Garbage Can – Remove the trash bag and dump any stragglers at the bottom into the bag. If your garbage can is a little more weathered, you may want to wear gloves and use a disinfectant spray to help fight germs. Mist the inside of the garbage can with your choice of cleaner and wipe it down with a separate sponge. If possible, rinse out with water in the sink or outside with a hose.
Sink – Start by placing your dishes in the dishwasher or hand-washing and then put them away. Scrub your oven grates and microwave plate with a scrub brush or sponge and put away. To clean the sink, mix a paste of baking soda and water and swirl your non-abrasive sponge in circles. Rinse the sponge and sink and clean again with soap and water. To make it shine like new, rub a few drops of baby oil around (mostly for stainless steel sinks) and watch it glow.
Floor – Floors, like countertops, require special treatment. Regardless of your floor type, start by sweeping or vacuuming loose dirt or food. Follow up with a mop and soapy water to make them shine. Always research the best cleaning methods for your type of floor before cleaning.
Do a little tidying up daily and you can be sure that your kitchen will look clean around the clock.
