5 Tips To Get Rid Of Cooking Smells
With all the cooking that is going to happen in your kitchen for the holidays, there will be a lot of welcome smells, but some of the dishes are sure to leave some lingering odors in your kitchen. Here’s how to neutralize the unpleasant aromas.
Boil Lemons and Oranges – Cut a lemon in half, add it to a pot of boiling water, and let it simmer for ten minutes. Or you can boil the leftover peels of lemon and orange from your cooking too. Lemons are also great for removing food odors from hands, just squeeze some juice over your hands, rub and rinse.
Leave a Bowl of Vinegar – Leave a bowl or two of baking soda or vinegar out on the counter overnight. The acetic acid molecules in vinegar bond with stinky, volatile compounds in the air, neutralizing them and killing the reek
Leave Coffee Ground – Coffee grounds act as a natural deodorizer. Coffee beans have a very strong scent, they neutralize the air and eliminate stringent smells. Leave coffee ground in a dish on the counter.
Homemade Air Freshener – Fill an eight-ounce spray bottle with three-quarters cup of water, two tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and 10 to 20 drops of essential oils such as lavender, peppermint, orange or clove. Spritz it around for a sweet-smelling kitchen.
Vinegar Steam – Vinegar is a jack-of-all-trade for removing any smell. Put a saucepan on the stove and fill it with a cup of water and about three tablespoons of vinegar. Bring the water to a boil and let it boil for several minutes to absorb any smells in the kitchen.
Cleaning up immediately after cooking, is a great way to chase away odor. Keep your kitchen smelling fresh this holiday season.
