Learn The Art of Couponing: Couponing Decoded with FTM – Week 1
Welcome to week #1 of our Couponing Decoded Classes! We’re very excited to get this up and rolling and know you guys all are too!
Each Saturday we will post a topic and we will all work through that topic together throughout the week. That will give us all time to discuss the topic and work through any questions that you may have. The goal here is for everyone to share feedback and ask questions, because we all interpret things differently and learn differently. The main discussions for this class are going to take place over on our Kroger Facebook page. Click here to join in on the discussions.
This weeks topic is going to be “Learning the Basics” and there are 3 categories I would like to start with:
1. Coupon Lingo – You’ve all read a post and said “What the heck does THAT mean?” Couponing Lingo looks and sounds like a foreign language, and in fact it pretty much is! There are SO many abbreviations and slang terms and you MUST know what these mean to understand what is going on. We have a list of Coupon Lingo ready to go for you! Print it out so you can have it with you while reading the posts until you master them all! CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL LIST OF COUPON LINGO
2. Reading a Deal Breakdown – Once you know and understand the Coupon Lingo, you will better understand how to read a deal breakdown. There are only a few other pieces of info to add to pull it all together. Once you’ve mastered this, the coupon world will start making sense to you. CLICK HERE TO LEARN HOW TO READ A DEAL BREAKDOWN
3. Finding Coupons – Now that you know what we are talking about in the deal posts, WHERE are those coupons??? For The Mommas has an awesome coupon database where you can search for coupons that match products you want to buy! You can search for any product by typing in it’s name (the less detailed search the better) Matching insert AND printable coupons will be displayed for you and all printables will be directly linked. Just click and print! Insert coupons will have the detail on where to find the coupons (as you learned how to read in the 2 above steps). CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE FINDING COUPONS TUTORIAL or CLICK HERE TO SEARCH THE COUPON DATABASE
** NOTE ** When you first print coupons from a few of the sites, you will need to download the printer drivers. Download windows will pop up automatically and you will need to download those BEFORE printing. Some of the sites also do not work well with the Google Chrome browser. I recommend switching to the Internet Explorer browser to print :-)
Now that you have the basic knowledge to get started, practice reading some deal breakdowns and searching for matching coupons on your own. Print a few of the AWESOME coupons that came out on the 1st, then head to the store to score a deal or two. Please don’t overwhelm yourself with trying to do a large haul. Keep it simple… 5-10 items max. Then come over to the Kroger Coupon Deals Facebook Page to share your hauls, breakdowns and join in on the fun!
Happy Couponing!
