7 Days to a Stress-Free Thanksgiving – Day 1 Prep Work
Thanksgiving is less than 3 weeks away. This week is the perfect time to start your prep work. A little advanced planning will help minimize the stress of cooking a big meal.
- Decide how many people will attend.
- Choose your menu.
- Are you serving the entire meal or having a potluck?
- Fresh or Frozen turkey? If you choose fresh, you may want to order one now from your butcher or grocery store.
- Locate your recipes-track down Grandma if you need to!
- Start a grocery list and begin shopping for pantry items.
- Clean out your fridge. Eat any “edible” leftovers and give the refrigerator a wipe down. Try organizing existing contents to make the best use of space.
- Check your meat thermometer by putting it in a pan of boiling water (212 degrees).
- Check or calibrate your oven temperature. Place an inexpensive oven thermometer like this one in your oven and turn your oven temperature to 350 on the dial. When it is done pre-heating, check the temperature on the oven thermometer. Re-calibrate your oven (if possible) or adjust cooking temperatures to fit your oven.
- Take a deep breath, you can do this!
