The policy also depends on the store managers individual policies too. I have found the Walmarts in a city are more accepting and friendly than those in a captive small town. The one close to columbus oh will accept pretty much everything, but the one 20 miles south, down the same highway, is very strict in what and how many they will accept. Small town vs. big city. All stores are pretty much getting the same way. Kroger, for instance, the store downtown city accepts 4 like, the one on south end of city accepts 5 like, the one in small town on one side of town accepts 5 and the one on the other side accepts 6. I think they are trying to drive us crazy so we don’t use coupons any more.

The area Wal-Mart where I live does not follow the policies on this page that is on here. They seem to make up their own policy. They are rude and disrespectful when you use coupons especially if it is coupons for a large amount saved on a sale item. And they say that is you do a price check then you cannot use a coupon on it. Also the will not put an overage from a coupon amount on your purchase.

Amy,
I too had a problem with one store… Once I spoke with the front end manager, I won’t deal with anymore checker attitude. I will call the manager over instead. The head cashier stated the checker was NOT to be rude & NOT to refuse to price match also. If you frequent the same store, find the best cashier for you… and stick with that one ;)

I am having problems with several of the different stores in my area, Ft. Worth Tex. One store will not allow me to use more than 6 different coupons on one transaction. Another will not allow me to return my transaction if there is more than 10 items being returned. And yet another store will not let me return a transaction from another store. There have been Managers, Asst Managers, CSM’s AND cashiers tell me, it doesn’t matter what the “Coorp Policy” say’s, the Store Mgr has the discretion to change the policy to suite their store. Most all of the cashiers working at the “Customer Service” counter as well as the CSM and Mgr’s have become extremely rude and hateful. What happened to Walmart, the small town friendly store.?

I so agree, I print lots of coupons on my printer abd they look perfectly fine, yet when I get to the register they won’t scan, but then I take them somewhere else like Dillions or Target and they scan and if they don’t the cahiers will type them in. Walmart has just become a HUGE hassle to shop there, I used to love walmart, now I can hardly stand to walk in there, but I live in a VERY small town and mostly do not have a choice of where I shop unless I want to drive 50-75 miles!!! :(

I would like to clarify something. I was looking at your coupon policy and on competitors’ coupons, it says they accept them with certain provisions, then under Coupons we do not accept it says competitors’ coupons??? I am confused. Could you explain? If I have a Walgreens or Targets coupon, will it be accepted? Thank you Carol Kirkley

I noticed that as well. It gave a list of ramifications for accepting a competitor’s coupons then further down it says they don’t accept them? Hoping to start couponing today. The extreme couponing show has inspired me to make a change to help my 4 children get what they deserve in life. Hooah to single parents and good luck with wally world. Cheers!

Hello Carol. My husband and I live in Johnson City, NY just outside of Binghamton. We also questioned the same thing about the coupon poliy that was recently updated. So I made a phone call to Corporate and according to them, you can use a Competitor’s coupons as long as it states Example: “$2.99 for 1 Purex”. If you use a coupon that states $1.00/3 for Purex from say Target’s Coupons website as a print out, then they will not take it. See if you can make any sense of this. I see only a fraction of a hair of a difference in what they are stating. So my husband and I can no longer use the Target Coupons from their site nor any of the ones I get in the mail unless it states for a certain price of a specific item. Makes no sense to us either. I think Walmart just makes up their own policies as they see fit if you ask me. I tired to tell Corporate that when updating their policy that they needed to be more specific in their wording. Obviously they didn’t. Glad to see that their is someone else out their that is just as confused as my husband and I. The sad part about all of this is we are avid people who donate regularly to Charities in our area for the Needy.

They technically don’t take the coupons, but… If the store is within 50 miles – it’s a price match, no coupon necessary. You can use a manufacture coupon on said item though ;)
