I am confused. The ad says “buy $12- get $3 off instantly”, but the scenarios that are posted only add up to $9 or $10 each. So how would the $3 come off the total if the $12 minimum is not met?

They are based on shelf prices. So the shelf prices are higher, and used to calculate the deals. So if the items $1.99 shelf is what you would calculate the deal on , $1.50 sales price would be what you pay.
