Weis: Dairy Savings Not Working Properly

Jun
17
2012

Just a quick update, if you are heading out to try the dairy savings at Weis - it is definitely having issues.

Here are the scenarios tested and the instant savings is not coming off:

1. Bought $12.00 worth of Smart Balance Milk using sales price and the $3.00 didn’t come off.

2. Bought $12.00 worth of products based on sales price, used coupons and the $3.00 didn’t come off.

3. Bought $12.00 worth of products based on shelf price and the $3.00 didn’t come off.

I think it is safe to say that there are definitely some coding problems with this deal.  I know some of you are being told it is because you have used coupons or that all instant savings are based on sales price since the beginning of time (we know this is not true, even the managers who say they are absolutely positive are wrong).  Seeing it didn’t work with $12.00 based on sales prices, I would try this one at your own risk until they get it fixed.

  1. Lauren says:

    Worked for me today with:
#1 4 cabot cheeses and several other items to encourage the discount:)
#2 (3) International Delight iced coffees and (1) eggs plus several other items

  2. Twila says:

I got my groceries today, and wanted ice cream and cheese, so decided I would buy regardless if the deal worked or not. So I bought 2 ice creams, (vanilla and cookies and cream) and one package of the sliced American Cabot cheese. When I looked at my receipt, the $3.00 had come off after the ice creams, before the cheese was ever scanned! So I decided this is great, I’ll go back and do another round! So I bought one chocolate chip cookie dough, and one mint chocolate chip. I also bought another pack of cheese just in case. Scanned the ice cream, no discount. Scanned the cheese and still no discount. Very strange indeed!

  3. Jeremy says:

Is this working yet? I want to go get 16 yocrunch yogurts tomorrow..thanks

  4. Anissa says:

I bought 2 ice creams and one yo crunch and it did not work. 5.99 shelf on ice cream and .79 shelf on yogurt. Do we think it is certain types of yogurt/ice creams? I bought the strawberry yocrunch with granola and a butter pecan and maple walnut ice cream.

I know we can figure this out!!! Post everyone!

    • Shannon says:

Ugh Anissa, its still a hot mess! The more info we post, the easier it will be.

    • dara says:

It worked for me when I got a vanilla and a cookie dough ice cream and i think a Reeses yocrunch.

It also worked when I got eggs, cheese and Reeses yocrunch.

It didnt work for me when I got 16 yogurts, a mix of strawberry granola, Reeses, and m&ms. I also bought other items with the yogurt. so the spend 12.00 total theory didnt work for me. The only other difference I could figure out is that the cashier scan some of my other items in between the yogurts. So the werent all together on the receipt.

  5. dara says:

    I did three transactions yesterday.

    #1
two friendlys ice cream (2) 2.50
    one yocrunch .60
    two gold peak teas (2)1.00
    -(2).50 tea coupons
    -3.00 instantly (worked fine)
    2.60

    #2
    two eggs
    5 yocrunch
    one cabot cheese
    two lean pockets
    -1.00/4 yocrunch
    -.95/2 lean pockets
    -3.00 instantly (no problem)

    #3
    16 yocrunch
    10 bc potatoes
    strawberries bogo
    sara lee bread bogo
    -(4) 1.00/4 yocrunch
    -(4)1.00/4 bc potatoes
    -(2).55 sara lee
    no 3.00 instant savings
customer service gave me 3.00 cash back after staring to the receipts forever while my ice cream was melting :)

hoping my free ice cream from giant trip goes a little smoother.

  6. Holly says:

Worked for me. I got 2 – 18 ct eggs, and 3 Gogurt. My shelf price total was $13 and I used coupons too.

  7. Tara says:

I think Heather is totally right and I finally have this dairy thing figured out. For some reason it is not triggering the instant savings unti the total on the register hits 12.00. I did the self checkout and for the first transaction I did 4 Gogurts and 1 YoCrunch. The 3.00 did not come off. I continued to scan the BC fruit snacks (Buy 5 for .99 each) and as soon as the total on the register hit over 12.00 (I think it was the 2nd fruit snack) then the 3.00 dairy discount came off. The same thing happened in the 2nd transaction when I got 2 Friendly’s Ice Creams and 1 YoCrunch – the 3.00 didn’t come off – then I scanned my Borden cheese slices and once the register hit 12.00 the 3.00 came off. The milk is definitely the problem though. In the 3rd transaction I had 3 Smart Balance milks and 1 YoCrunch. Even after I scanned other things and got past 12.00 the 3.00 didn’t come off – they manually took the 3.00 off after I explained that the other transactions worked. I hope they get the milk issue fixed soon – my kids love this milk and I have lots of coupons I aquired over the last week to do the deal!

  8. Heather says:

The only times I could get this to work is if I was buying other stuff in addition to the dairy sale. For instance my one order was the following:
    2-Friendly’s Xtreme Icecreams $5.00
    1-Oreo Yocrunch .60¢
    2-Borden Cheese (bogo) $4.79
    2-Sara Lee Breads (bogo) $3.19
    4-Yakisoba Noodles $4.00
    4-Nestle Crunch Bars $2.64
    Total before coupons=$37.20
After coupons and instant $3 dairy =$3.49

The $3 did not come off till after a few non dairy sale items were scanned and total reached $12 on the register. So there must be a coding error. So a question for those of you that got the sale to work were you just buying the dairy sale stuff or were you buying other stuff with it?

  9. Bonnie in PA says:

I bought 3 eggs and 2 cabot singles. It worked for me yesterday.

  10. SherrieB says:

And this is very confusing, because it seems like some people are posting their scenarios based on sale prices, not shelf prices?

  11. SherrieB says:

I was so excited about this – wondering if Weis will start coding so that it is only off of sale prices? Hoping this is resolved by the end of the week…I do need gogurts, so maybe I’ll try it as described below…

  12. Ruth says:

The ads usually states after coupons so we can’t argue if you spent 5.60 instead of the required 12.00. When I shopped at Weis, I always went by the shelf prices and the deals worked but they might have changed it.

There is just too much focus on couponing these days due to the show Extreme Couponing. Companies are changing their coupon policies, coupons have less value, coupons are not being given out for the items on sale. Hopefully, the show will be cancelled soon but it is wishful thinking, there is too many people who want their 15 minutes of fame. The only good thing is that sites like this that help us now can make a little more through sponsor and advertising, they deserve it.

  13. Kristy says:

I bought 2 Smart Balance butter spreads, a Smart Balance milk, and the 18-ct eggs. It didn’t take the 3.00 off, but luckily, the manager was working at the register I was at and I told him about it (and even told him that it should be according to the shelf price!). He took it right off for me.

  14. Janet says:

Strange….it worked for me last night. I hope they get it fixed for everyone!

    • Tara says:

What did you buy that worked? Thanks!

      • Janet says:

2 Kozy shack rice puddings for my husband…..2 iced coffees for ME….and one Gold Peak tea. They scanned my card first and the discount came off then I used the coupons I had. I was over the $12 worth on sale prices.

  15. kelly says:

I had the same problem. One of my transactions was 16 of the yogurts at shelf price .79 and it didn’t work. I had to cancel my order cause she wasn’t budging with me about the 3.00 off cause it wasn’t at “12.00″

  16. Melanie P. says:

Tonight we bought: 2 Gold Peak and 10 YoCrunch Yogurts (strawberry w/ granola, strawberry w/ chocolate, vanilla w/ chocolate) and 1 egg (18 count). We did get the $3 dairy discount on our receipt.

  17. Jeff says:

The $3 did not come off for me either. I bought 13 yogurts (10/$6) at the shelf price of $.99. CS did give me the $3 when I asked about it.

  18. tracy says:

Bought four smart balance and it didnt come off :( CS was NOT helpful at all :(

  19. Melanie says:

I did the two ice cream and one yogurt this morning and it did not work. They wouldnt give my money back as they said it was going off of sale price! So i bought another ice cream and 2 more yogurt and sure enough, it came off. Not a good deal as far as i’m concerned. I wont be doing it again. I also tried it with the Tea, YoCrunch and Sour Cream and it didnt work at all. :( My Weis is not very coupon friendly and i gave up arguing. Its back to travelling out of town to shop i guess……

  20. Melanie says:

I tried 2 ice cream and 1 yogurt and the $3 did not come off. I bought $12 based on the sale price and it worked fine so I think that the problem is it’s not working on shelf prices anymore.

  21. Shannon M says:

I bought 2- teas, 2-gogurts & 2-yo crunch, based on shelf price =$12.74 I let her scan all items first, then handed my card which took the $3 off & then handed my coupons.

  22. joann says:

Yes this happened to me, I went to customer service with the ad (2 times) and they just gave me my 3.00 back both times..

    • Melanie says:

Did you spend $12 based on shelf price or sale price? I did not have the nerve to argue with CS if I only spent $5.60 instead of $12 so I added more items to my order and the $3 came off.

      • joann says:

sale price and I always wait to give them my card and coupons…(more for personal satisfaction to watch those dollas drop :) )

  23. Heather says:

I bought 2 icecreams and 1 yogurt (oreo kind) this morning and the instant savings worked. I did notice that if you bought yogurt that was not actually shown in the ad picture it would not work.

    • Shannon says:

I don’t think its the Yogurt – I think its the milk that is causing a problem and possibly the tea.

  24. Anonymous says:

Tanya Trail – right, thats what I am guessing its a coding problem with some of the products.

  25. Tanya says:

I bought 2 ice cream & 1 Yocrunch & the $3 came off with no problems.

  26. Danielle says:

Now I’m glad they didn’t have the smart balance milk…its was all pulled for being out of date….hope it gets fixed soon tho!
