When a Deal Isn’t a Deal

March 4, 2010

Update: They must of read my post LOL, because the price is now $19.99

Ok this is classic.

Go on over here and tell me what is wrong with this “Deal of the Day” ??

Anyone? Ok I will give you a hint – the retail price is $69.99 the deal of the day price is $69.99 … HUH?

Don’t fall for tricks like this! Just because there is a sale sign or a deal sign — doesn’t mean its a deal. What it does mean is Target has too many and needs some suckers to buy them at this great “deal” price.

Have you seen any great “deals” like this one lately?

    lol, thanks for reminding us.

  2. Heidi says:

My personal favorite is when I’m at the grocery and something is usually around $4 or something and now it’s $.08 off.

I realize that enough $.08 might make a deal, but not on an item of that price!

  3. Jennifer says:

Who the heck would every pay 70 bucks for those. Oh my word! Maybe my eighth grade self, but wow, they’re terrible!

    • Shannon says:

      Jen,

He he I remember 8th grade you and I am going to go with NO you wouldn’t. You weren’t flashy like that.

  4. Marilyn says:

Maybe they think the “deal” is free shipping? idk, but there’s no way I’d buy them! :)

  5. Tina says:

HAHA that was funny…thanks for the laugh!

  6. Vicki Little says:

Walmart had their Didj games in their clearance section after Christmas and they were exactly the same price as they were regularly.

  7. Dizzy Mommy says:

I love places generally I’ve noticed this quite often at Walmart… The clarence price (and sticker) is the same as the original price with absolutely no difference. Often time stores will put sale signs up and it will be the exact same price. But my favorite is defin. Walmart normal priced Clarence prices.

  8. Steph says:

They must have changed it, since the price is now $19.99. Must have been a glitch.

My favorite is the .02 price decrease.

  9. Marci says:

    They fixed it . . . Down to 19.99. :)

  10. Katie T says:

All of the other items on targets deal of the day are like that too! I wonder if it’s an error or if they really mean it?!

  11. Erin Stanford says:

Current price says 19.99 now. Guess they realized it. :)

  12. Anonymous says:

I think they just corrected the price. They now say $19.99. Probably still not a great deal, but better:).

  13. Char says:

They must have noticed. It’s now $19.99. It was probably (I Hope) just a mistake.

  14. Jill says:

    Here’s a good one . . . http://www.target.com/gp/detail/map-popup.html/?quantity=1&asin=B002OSEEIU&urlGet=undefined
Check out the big savings on this tempoary price cut. It went from 249.99 to $249.00 you can save .99!

  15. DanielleCorrelle says:

I bought Electrasol at Target on clearance recently (last month, I think?), but it was more expensive on *clearance* than it was on sale a few weeks prior to that. I was laughing about it, and didn’t want to buy any knowing that, but it was the best deal I could find at the time and my coupons were about to expire.

  16. Kim says:

You have to watch out for signage everywhere and have to know the difference between “Sale” & “Advertised”, just because there is a sign to get your attention, doesn’t always mean you are getting a deal! Lucky for us, we know how to check the original price and know when to back up and say “no deal”!

  17. MMcKenna says:

I’m glad they changed it but yeah still not a steal :)

I have noticed that a lot with Target though! Either their online people make a lot of mistakes (which they did make a mega one with Britax seats a while ago a few people may remember) or they are looking for some suckers ;) .

I’ve seen a lot of items $.99 off from their original price online on “sale”. *shakes her head* silly target.

  18. Jess says:

The same could be said for a variety of things though. If you’re buying something you don’t need or maybe even want, because its $.50 then its not a deal. I am constantly reminding myself that just because I can get a good “deal” doesn’t mean I should! (Hello cheap target cookies!!!)

  19. Erica says:

Looks like they did it again with the deal of the day. It was $99.99 and now marked down to $99.99. What in the world?!?!

  20. Kyra says:

They did the same thing with today’s deal… List price is $99 and deal price is… $99… seriously?? LOL
