Just a heads up…I don’t know if something changed recently, but I tried this deal at Giant in York PA and the instant savings did not come off. The manager said it was b/c my coupons made the total under 10.00. The ad does not state that the total must be 10.00 after coupons. Any way around this? How are others getting it to work?
For the Mommas says
CJ was your total bill over $10 (including other items?)
cj says
yes…it was 12.00 before coupons, 8.00 after coupons just like the scenario posted.

Shannon, this is the response I got from Giant:
I apologize that you were not able to receive the instant savings of $3.00 on the Smart Balance promotion because you were not aware that the use of coupons decreases your spending amount. Giant does have a disclaimer on the back page of every circular that states “all minimum spend requirements must be met after all discounts and coupons have been subtracted from order”. Having promotions work this way is fairly standard in the industry. We have asked that this disclaimer be more visible and closer to the offers so customers are aware.
So how did it work for some people?

But the total needs to be $10 for it to work, it can be other stuff in the order but the whole order needs to be over $10. next time grab some bananas or something.
cj says
why would any other item that is not a smart balance item trigger the discount? That doesn’t make sense.
