Giant Food Store Coupon Policy 2013
This is the most recent coupon policy from Giant. See items highlited in red for important details. This coupon policy applies to Giant PA Food Stores.
OFFICAL COUPON POLICY (from Giant Food Stores website as of 1/10/13)
- The customer must purchase the item to which the coupon applies.
- Coupons must not be expired.
- A store coupon and a manufacturer coupon may be redeemed on the same item. If the combined value for both coupons used exceeds the price of the item, the item is free. The manufacturer’s coupon will be deducted first, then the store coupon will be adjusted so that it does not exceed the price of the item.
- Coupons may be redeemed on damaged or discontinued merchandise that has been reduced.
- We do not accept coupons from competitors.
- We do not accept altered or tampered (i.e. expiration date cut off) or Xerox copied coupons.
- The value of the coupon may not exceed the price of the item.
DOUBLE COUPON POLICY:
- In order for a coupon to be doubled, the Customer must use their Bonus Card.
- The Double Coupon Policy does not apply to FREE coupons, Catalina coupons, store coupons.
- The total doubled value can not exceed the price of the item.
- Only one coupon for the same item will be doubled, all other will be redeemed at face value. (Example: 12 cans of Hi-C punch, 1 coupon will be doubled, 11 will be redeemed at face value) Only one like coupon will be doubled.
- All coupons with a face value up to and including .50 cents will be doubled. Example: A .50 cent coupon will be doubled to $1. All coupons with a face value from .51 cents to .99 cents will be redeemed for $1. (Note: Some stores double up to $.99 – see your store for more details)

i don’t understand why giant has an issue with printed internet coupons that are “free” or are “buy one get one free”. do they lose money from it?

This statement seems to say two different things. From past experience, I noticed that if I have coupons for Frosted Flakes, where one is for 50 cents off and one for 60 cents off, both would double in the same order because they are not “like” coupons. I had an issue with 2 coupons not being scanned at all and I went to CS. I had two different value coupons for the same item, but they would only double one. They said that they only double one coupon per product. I had a receipt from earlier in the week showing that coupons for different amounts for the same product did indeed double and they could not understand why this happened. They would not budge. I left the desk being irritated. Maybe I should call the Giant CS line? What do others think? Thanks!

No I think they mean the SAME COUPON – meaning $.50 and $.60 would be doubled. :)

I know this wording ” The value of the coupon may not exceed the price of the item” is going to continue to create issues at my Giant. They insist that if an item is on sale for .99cents and I have $1.00 off coupon I cannot use the coupon. They will not adjust it down. They say “the value of the coupon exceeds the price of the item therefore we cannot honor the coupon”…ugh!!!

Only doubling 1 like coupon of an item is lame. They need to change that to around 4 or so.

Interesting about the no accepting competitor coupons: last week i talked to a customer service at Giant and he told me they do accept competitors coupons including Wholefoods..probably as long as does not specify redeemable only at a particular store
For the Mommas says
A competitors coupon is an actual store coupon, rather than a manfacturer coupon.
Brittany says
So, does that mean you can use one of the coupons that prints out after you checkout and a coupon cut out of flyers in the paper? I am not sure what they mean by store coupons, where you would find them.
For the Mommas says
No, normally the coupons at the register are manufacturer. You would find them in coupon books in store, in the ads and the ecoupons that come to your account.

In Central PA we had coupons from their Sunday flyer. I clipped one for Speacial K for 1.88 at Giant and it stated it was a store coupon on the top left. Then, I used a manufacturer coupon on top of that and got the box of cereal for .88.
For the Mommas says
Yep that is a perfect example.

This is the clearest coupon policy that I’ve seen in a long time! Really addresses the recent issues that have come up at Giant. LOVE it!!

I agree, Janet. The only thing they left out is the BOGO issue :)
For the Mommas says
