Here is the Giant Coupon Policy . You can find the Giant Coupon Policy online here.
COMPETITOR COUPON POLICY:
We’re competitive here at GIANT! So, in our stores, we honor our competitor’s coupons! Here’s our policy…
A competitor is any retailer that carries an identical item that we carry and is located in our trade area. Giant will accept competitor’s coupons for products, provided the customer has met the purchase requirements as stated on the face of the coupon.
- Coupons must not be expired.
- Minimum spend requirements must be met as noted on the face of the coupon.
- We do not honor point promotions or continuity programs.
- We do not honor manufacturer’s coupons that state they are only redeemable at specific retailers.
- If a competitor coupon is for an item that does not indicate a size, we will only match it for an item size that both Giant and the competitor carry.
- Digital offers are excluded.
Example: We can accept a coupon from PetSmart that is valid at a local PetSmart and applies to an item size, flavor, etc. that we carry. We would not, however, accept a coupon from Kroger in Charlottesville at a store outside of our market. The marketplace, generally, is defined as stores that are a reasonable competitive option for a customer. Store managers should use good judgment and ultimately seek to satisfy reasonable customer expectations.
Basket Offers & Gas Incentives
-
- Limit one (1) competitor coupon of a basket offer discount or gas incentive including dollars off or cents off per gallon is permitted.
- Coupon may not be combined with any other basket offers or gas incentives, including GIANT “dollar off” and “cents off per gallon” coupons.
- Minimum spend requirements must be met after Bonuscard savings and other coupons have been deducted.
- Item exclusions include alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, stamps and lottery tickets
- Coupons may not exceed 50% of the order.
- Digital offers are excluded.
Example: $5 off a $50 purchase coupons or save 20¢ off per gallon of gas with a $50 purchase.

Competitor clipped triple coupons will be accepted only when there is an authorized promotion.
Competitor triples will be redeemed as stated on the coupons. Please Note: Competitor electronic triple coupons are not accepted.

The manufacturer’s coupon will be deducted first, then the store coupon will be adjusted so that it does not exceed the price of the item.
Printed Manufacturer coupons may be redeemed on damaged or discontinued merchandise that has been reduced. Digital Coupons are excluded.

The other four coupons will be redeemed for .50¢.)

Does anyone know if they allow more than one deal in a transaction? ie – Buy any 5 of these items & get $8 off your total purchase (w/ min. purchase $25)
Thanks
Michelle says
Does their internet coupon policy of no FREES include BOGO frees? I was denied using the coffee-mate BOGO internet coupon today – boo! Just curious if the stated policy is for straight frees, or BOGOs as well. Thanks!
For the Mommas says

What is your policy for redeeming manufacturers’ coupons?
Our policy for redeeming manufacturers’ coupon is as follows:
Only 1 manufacturers’ coupon may be redeemed per item; No substitutions are allowed.
The exact item stated on the coupon be must be purchased in order to redeem the coupon.
Coupons cannot be redeemed after the expiration date stated on the coupon. The total redemption value of the coupon may not exceed the retail value of the item purchased.
Any coupons for “free” products will be honored for the value of the item only. “Free” coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.
Act Media coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.
Product specific Checkout Coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.
Product specific Checkout Coupons cannot be used with any other manufacturers’ coupons for the same item.
Non-product specific store Checkout Coupons can be used with another manufacturers’ coupon. For example: a customer my use a coupon for “50¢ off any Produce item” and a manufacturers’ coupon on the same item.
What is your double coupon policy?
We double the savings marked on manufacturers’ cents-off coupons up to 99¢. Any coupon $1 and over will be redeemed at face value of the item purchased. In cases where the double coupon total exceeds the value of the item, the offer is limited to the retail price. Lottery tickets, cigarettes, tax and items prohibited by law are excluded.
You may double a maximum of 4 identical manufacturers’ coupons. For example: if a customer purchased five boxes of Cheerios and presented 5 manufacturers’ coupons for 50¢, the first four coupons would be doubled to $1. The fifth coupon would only be redeemed for 50¢.
Up to an additional 12 identical manufacturers’ coupons/items will be redeemed at face value for a total of 16 identical manufacturers’ coupons.
Do you accept competitor’s coupons?
Yes. Giant will accept competitor’s coupons provided the customer has met the purchase requirements as stated on the face of the coupon. We do not honor manufacturer’s coupons that state that they are only redeemable at a specific retailer. Also, if a competitor coupon is for an item that does not indicate a size, we will only match it for an item size that both Giant and the competitor carry.
Do you accept Internet coupons?
Yes. We do accept Internet coupons unless we are notified of fraudulent activity involving specific Internet coupons.
Can I redeem coupons on my gift card purchases?
Giant does not accept coupons of any type for the purchase of gift cards.
Shannon says
Different Giant..
Susan J. Reinhardt says
I have a coupon for free Land O’ Lakes eggs from Vocalpoint. Giant is the only store around here that has them. Will they accept that type of free coupon.
Sarah Rossi says
I just came from Giant (MD) and the cashier told me they will not accept Internet Printable “free” coupons but if they are not IPs they will accept them. He also said if an IP does not scan they can not take it/override the computer. HTH
Amy says
I have another question that I’ve been wondering about. When a store doubles a coupon, who pays for that doubled amount? The store or the manufacture? I was told the store, but then why do certain coupons say “Do Not Double” ? Why would the manufacture care if the store is shelling out the money to double their coupon??
Jen says
I was just at my Giant last night and they are doing full doubling as always. However, it is NOT new to me that they only double one like coupon in a transaction. I always have to split mine up. It sucks when you got 4 of something, I usually end up coming back another time…I feel uncomfortable splitting more into more than 2 orders
Teena says
I stopped shopping at Giant in October because they only doubled the first coupon. I don’t shop with 20 like coupons, but I usually have 2-5 and I think it sucks that they won’t double.
Shannon says
Teena,
Even with their 1 double policy, Giant has some fantastic deals.
Theresa says
Have a question, hopefully some one can help me out. I had contacted Giant in regards to the catalinas that print out but they never answered my question just sent me the coupon policy. I noticed that the catalinas print out with a “99” barcode. Can you use them along with a manufactures coupon which has a barcode starting with a “5”? Thank you for all your help!
Grace says
I would love to know this answer as well. I have had cashiers who take them stacked without a trouble and then others who say no way no how. I tried using the catalinas at a WalMart and they would not take it because it says Giant on it AND they start with a “9” which the manager said indicates it is a store coupon. SO any clear answers on this would be appreciated.
Shannon says
No, 9 coupons are coded as 9 so that the machine doesn’t double them. It is a manufacturer coupon.
Grace says
Thank you for claryfing this. Now if I can only get Wal-Mart to take those coupons. UGhh…I feel so discouraged lately using coupons anywhere.
I might just need a break! :)
Diana says
The positive in this is that it says you MAY use a coupon on damaged and discounted items. Before I would have trouble with the cashier. Now I know my rights! :)
pat says
I do separate transactions all the time at Giant so that the coupon doubles. I use both the self and regular check out with no problem.
Jenny Citterman Outten via Facebook says
Hmm, going to have to try the dbl;in of a .75 and see if I still get $1.50….if not, THAT SUCKS
Anonymous says
I had a $.75 coupon that doubled on 3/7/14 with no problem!
Liz says
I do not like this. I am new to couponing- started last spring. I feel like it forces us to use multiple transactions which I have had bad personal luck with. Any suggestions?
Heather C says
I find Giants coupon policy to be very restrictive, and that’s why I only grab super cheap items on the way home there. Only doubling one coupon is a rip off to me.
Suzanne Winters via Facebook says
I went to Giant yesterday and they accepted two Buy One, Get One Free internet coupons, so it may vary from store to store. They did not double my $.75 coupon, just gave me a dollar off. Hope this helps!
Melissa S. says
Most of this has been the way my store operates with the two exceptions. They would didn’t allow store coupon and a man. coupon on one item. Also it was pick and choose when they would allow a coupon on a damaged or discounted item. I’m glad it is in writing now so there is no confusion on those matters.
Stefany says
Does anyone know if Giant will still accept the manufacturer coupons printed from Walgreens? IE- the Register Rewards. They’ve always allowed me to redeem them there because they say manufacturer coupon on them, but in the policy it says they wont accept other store coupons. I guess all I can do is try and see what happens. Anyone else do this, and worried they may not anymore?
Sara says
In My opinion the Catalina that prints from example Walgreens and states Manufacturer Coupon is technically not a competitor coupon. I would consider a competitors coupon to be a Walgreens coupon from something like their monthly book
Melissa McConnell Grieshaber via Facebook says
I think that there is something about the market in the MD stores or the State College areas that has those variations in place, so I’d guess that as long as those market conditions stay the same, that so would those stores’ policies.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Leslie Hoffer Gates – the amounts wont be standardized – i.e. the $.50 etc. From what I understand the 1 like will be standardized.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Adrienne Rohrman – no , if you read the fine print it says that doubling amount may vary by store.
Melissa says
This is sort of off topic, but since the new barcodes started printing on internet coupons, none of them will scan at giant. Does anyone know if its their register system or will changing my print settings fix it? I had always printed in black&white only but those wouldn’t scan so I tried a few in color and those wouldn’t scan either. I would say that its the old, cr%@py printer I have, but they scanned fine at cvs.
Melissa S. says
Since the first week they implemented the new coupons we haven’t had any problems at Giant. Of course, the store was just updated in the fall and new registers were installed.
Sara says
I have also been having this problem but not just at Giant I have been having problems at various stores! Not exciting let me tell ya!
Leslie Hoffer Gates via Facebook says
I wonder if this will standardize all stores, or if individual stores will still run variations of this policy. Stores in MD near me double 4 like coupons, state college doubles up to $2. Wonder if this will continue.
Erinn Crawley says
I haven’t heard anything that State College was changing. I was just there. It says that stores do this at their own discretion or something to the like.
Jen says
I hope it does, I am in state college too! I was just in Giant last night, no problems with doubling yet and they have their signs everywhere. Let’s cross our finger because I rely on this double feature a lot!
Susan says
I was told one time by a worker in Giant that the only reason State College doubles $1 coupons is because they did not have gas pumps to use the Gas Points. Now the one on Northland is putting in gas pumps. So will this change their policy? I hope not
Jen says
Well if it changes I hope it’s only Northland, I like the other Giant better anyway, less undergrads emptying it out so fast haha
Angie says
This kind of sucks in my area, too. Giant bought our local Genuardis, so there will be two Giant stores within a couple miles of each other. Genuardis always doubled coupons with a limit of 4 like per item. Now I’m not sure if the Giants will still double up to $.99. BUMMER!
Adrienne Rohrman via Facebook says
But is it a change to the double-coupon policy? It says coupons $.51 to $.99 will be redeemed at $1. So, my $.75 coupon won’t really double to $1.50. Pretty sure that is different. And disappointing.
Bonnie says
If you read the comments above, I don’t think they are changing the stores that already have a full double. So keep using your $.75 q’s until you notice a change, I doubt you will.
sharon says
Based on this rule: Only one coupon for the same item will be doubled, all other will be redeemed at face value. (Example: 12 cans of Hi-C punch, 1 coupon will be doubled, 11 will be redeemed at face value) Only one like coupon will be doubled.
Can we do 12 separte transactions in order for them to double all of them?
Kristens says
Yes, I do seperate transactions all the time there. Unless it’s a gas points, BOGO, or some other reason to keep the items together. If I have more than 2 transcations, I use the self-checkout.
Jen says
They get so grumpy at self checkout, you have to hand them the coupons and once I was told I might have to stand aside if it got busier while I check out
Erinn Crawley says
The 2 Giants in State College only allow 3 transactions per day per store. Tons of people go there because they double dollar coupons. Very worth it. I do 3 orders at one store and then 3 at the other sometimes.
Mel says
My husband drives to State College every day for work. Too bad he won’t do any shopping cause our local Giant (45 min away from SC) only doubles to .99 and then only 1 of the same coupon.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Steve Cherry – ha its monday – at 8 am. I am still not functioning LOL
J says
Ok, maybe it’s just me, but I’m not seeing any real differences here? And does that line about the q value and the item value mean that you can no longer use a coupon on two items in a BOGO free sale?
Stacy says
Oh wow…doesn’t seem like it will be worth it to go to Giant from now on. Only doubling one like coupon? Not worth the drive!
Steve Cherry via Facebook says
such a goof. I read it 3 times, looking for a link at the end, and totally missed it at the start. Happy Monday! :/
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Steve Cherry – follow the link in the post – to see it on Giants page.
Steve Cherry via Facebook says
Is there a way to get an official copy of this somewhere? Not that I doubt you, but I doubt my cashiers will accept a policy with FTM headers and links on the page.
Jaime Lynne Gerhart via Facebook says
Yeah, that’s been my understanding. I guess I can always try, but it would be great if they would be more specific in their written policy. Thanks for posting this!
Kristie says
I am not sure what the changes are, other now they will only double one coupon for multiples of the same item ( I believe it was previously 2) :(
Bonnie says
It’s always been one at most Giant/Martins stores, maybe your store was an exception.
Maryanne Rightler Naath via Facebook says
They will not take any coupons that have the word “free” on them. BOGOs that are IP will not be accepted at Giant.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Jaime Lynne Gerhart – I have been told if it says free on the coupon – they wont take it, but other stores do accept it.
Jen says
They won’t take free internet ones. But they take b1g1 internet ones. They will take free non internet coupons
Kathleen Thomas via Facebook says
Gotcha. Thanks. Unfortunately due to the Martin’s Tree House (grocery shopping day care!!) I’ll keep going no matter what the policy is. They have me hook line and sinker.
Suzanne says
Jaime, I just was at Giant yesterday and used two coupons that were Buy One, Get One Free and they accepted them. So I think they are still accepting those. I did notice that at the Perkasie, PA store I shopped at, they were only doubling the .75 coupon to $1.00. Maybe it varies from store to store.
Jaime Lynne Gerhart via Facebook says
I still wonder about internet BOGO free coupons. I know it says they will not allow free coupons, but will BOGO apply? I’ve always had issues with that at the register.
Maryanne says
Oh wow…this is NOT good for me!!! My stored doubled up to $0.99!! I always saved my $0.75 coupons for Giant. This is a complete bummer and now makes shopping at Weis so much better for me. They will double 4 of the same in one transaction. Giant officially stinks!
Shannon says
Maryanne,
Your store may still double to $.99 – see the line where it says Double Amount may vary by store. Majority of stores only double to $.50, but I don’t think they changed the double amounts at the stores that double to $.99.
Melissa says
I agree with Shannon, I don’t think they are changing the stores that do full doubling to only double to $.50. The stores I shop at (Quakertown, sometimes Perkasie) are both stores that do full doubling, but even before this policy update, both stores had some signage around the customer service area that reflected the only up to $.50 doubling that most of the chain does.
Cathy says
The stores I use both (within 15 minutes of me) still doubles up to $.99, but one will only double 1 like coupon, the other one will double 4 like coupons. So I determine which store I go to by the number of coupons I would like to use.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Jennifer Denson – YES!!! That was the problem – drove me nuts. It was basically a blurb and the store always said – well its at the managers discretion! GRRRRRR
Jennifer Denson via Facebook says
I understood Giant’s coupon policy better than the checkout people. Thank you for posting the update.
RuE says
“The value of the item may not exceed the price of the item.”
This means they will adjust the coupon down, correct?
Shannon says
Rue,
I am hoping so but the way its worded doesn’t look promising.
Jen says
Yes. I do it all the time. And it will show the coupon value off, and then minus the left over. I got lotion free that was $1.85, with a $1 Q, it took -$1, then -$0.85
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Jennifer Denson – this is not a policy change – It is just an UPDATING of the policy to be more complete and clear up the gray areas.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Old Policy – Customers with a GIANT BONUSCARD will receive double the value of manufacturer’s coupons. (See specific store for details regarding double coupon policy redemption values.) The double coupon policy does not apply to customers without a GIANT BONUSCARD, free coupons, manufacturer coupons that state “Do Not Double,” in-store coupons, or other retailers’ in-store coupons. The total value of the double coupon may not exceed the price of the item. We reserve the right to limit one (1) double coupon per same coupon per day, per customer.
Internet Coupons Policy:
Customers with a GIANT BONUSCARD may redeem coupons that have been printed from the internet. We do not accept internet coupons for free products, or $5.00. We reserve the right to refuse any internet coupon that appears to be fraudulent.
All coupon redemptions are subject to the discretion of the store manager.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Kathleen Thomas and Tina Weaver Horst – the coupon is just updated to be more complete – one it no longer says they reserve the right to limit to 1 like coupon – it now explicitly only allows for 1 doubling. The policy also said internet coupons up to $5.00 (which caused issues for a $5.00, now it is properly worded to say over $5.00). It also outlines stacking a store and manufacturer coupon, which it did not before – and also caused issues. I will post their old policy in a second
Missy Sue via Facebook says
I was at Giant on Friday and couldn’t figure out why only 1 of my 50 cent coupons for the tomatoes was doubled. Guess when I have multiple coupons for 1 product I am going to make multiple transactions just so I can get the double
jennifer says
When I go to Martin’s and have multiple of the same coupons that can be doubled, I always do the self-checkout. A couple weeks ago, when they had the pizza rolls for $1, I had lots of 35/1 coupons, I spent quite a bit of time at the self-checkout buying one box at a time.
Jennifer Denson via Facebook says
I’m not noticing in changes in their policy. It still stinks!
Tina Weaver Horst via Facebook says
that’s what I am wonering. It all sounds the same to me.
Kathleen Thomas via Facebook says
Just curious, what’s the update? What did they change? I go to Martins all the time and I just want to make sure I understand it all. Thanks!
Kayci Tatsch Corbin via Facebook says
That stinks!!
Nicki says
It says they will take a coupon on damaged/reduced, which they used to do then stopped. I guess they will take coupons on them again. I will try it out!!
