Giant Gas Points Update

Jun
22
2012

Todd F. emailed me to let me know that he noticed that gas points were limited to 10 offers per household this week. I checked the ad for next week and the verbiage is the same.

I have not seen this verbiage before, I possibly could have missed it.

Is this news to you as well?

I reached the limit this week on on by 8 get 20 cents category and I can confirm if you do 11 out of the category it will not give you the extra. it prints on your receipt that you have reached the limit of 10 in this category.

I did ALL the giant gas deals today (buy 7, buy 6 and buy 5) for a total of 60 cents off. I also used the 50 cents off per gallon if you spend $50 (easily done!). For some reason, when I checked out, only my 20 cents for the buy 6 deal and my 20 cents for the buy 5 deal showed up. My buy “7″ deal did not give me 20 cents off. I had to go to customer service to get it adjusted. When I talked to them at customer service, they made some comment about the fact that I did ALL the categories?!? I asked if that was a problem now. The kid shrugged his shoulders and put the 20 cents on my card after checking my receipt for the 7 items. Still not sure what happened – but thought I’d let you all know I did have a bit of a problem and to make sure and double check your receipt.

How do you guys do so well and get free gas? At my store you have to spend $100 just to get a measely 10 cents off a gallon, I feel like I am missing something! I coupon big time so I don’t even make 100 points before they expire :( Reallllllly disappointed we lost $1 doubling for this

    • FTM - Natalie says:

Jen, do you have Gas Points Giant/Martin’s Store?

      • Jen says:

Yes I have a giant, we just started gas points in april so it’s new. So far it’s 100 points to get 10 cents off gas. I am trying to figure out how you get free gas, i read of this before but it was before we had gas points

        • FTM - Natalie says:

Jen, check your ad tomorrow to see if you have the Buy “x” amount of items and get $.20 per gallon. It’s normally in the middle of the ad. If you do.. try one of these deals tomorrow http://forthemommas.com/store-deals/giantmartins-30-philadelphia-cream-cheese-more.

You’ll get $.20 off per gallon instantly (up to 30 gallons) Just make sure your are using your bonus card and check the bottom of the receipt to make sure gas points are there. Good Luck! Let me know how you make out.

          • Jen says:

thanks a lot! I think since I coupon so much these instant deals will work better than just scoring a point per dollar

          • cm says:

If, the “Buy 7, save 20 cents” categories, there’s an item listed 8/$10.00, does that mean you can buy 7 or 8 of the items to meet the requirement or would that purchase only count as 1 of the 7 required?

  4. Todd says:

I believe it is just 10 offers from each category each week. For example this week has three .20 off categories. I would think you could do 30 total this week 10 from each different category. Not confirmed but that is what I get from it.

Last week, I noticed they put limits on the gift card deal to one per household per transaction (spend $50 on gift cards, get $10). I had 2 other members of my family do this too, and even the $10 off your next grocery order coupons said ONE per transaction per DAY!!!! I am becoming disappointed in Giant’s limiting deals.

    • Carol says:

I didn’t really see that as a problem. I just did separate transactions and still got 2 cards. I used both the $10 coupons that day on separate orders too. It took 3 transactions but I did self-check and had no problem. Maybe if I wanted a whole bunch of cards that would have been a problem but I only wanted a couple. I got some at Weis and some at Giant. I was too nervous to try to get more than 1 per transaction anyway. Didn’t trust them to print that way. The cashiers at both stores said to do them separately, just in case.

I also don’t think a limit of 10 of each offer is a big deal. I’m sure I’ve never done 10 of any deal, though I did probably get 5 of the candy one the other week.

      • Steve says:

Bought tons of gift cards this week . My store didn’t have sign but one a few miles away did. Plus I was able to use 10 off doing separate transaction. My kids loved seeing the huge stack of gift cards for our trip to Disney next year

      • Ruth says:

The gas points accumulate even if you buy 12 items of the required 6 of example. I had no issues with the points being added to the card. I do a lot of transactions on one shopping trip and I had no issues so far. The managers at Giant are great and never give me a hard time. Some employees are a different store. I have many horror stories of employees trying to make up their own policy. I’m not sure if it is jealousy, ignorance of both. Then there are some employees who marvel at the savings and want to learn how to do it.

  6. Kate says:

Colleen…is it just for that week and then you can get more deals the following week?

  7. Steve says:

Giant just keeps getting better and better….I really don’t know why they hassle their customers….there are so many choices to shop and Giant keeps making things harder…so unfortunate

  8. Colleen says:

I saw this earlier in the day & did some research with Giant’s customer service. It’s a new thing & the limit of 10 is per category & per HOUSEHOLD not per card. Hth!

    • kasey says:

Do you mean it’s a limit of 10 items per category, or you’re able to to the deal 10 times? Hope that makes sense. Thanks

  9. Caroline says:

I don’t think I have ever hit that limit in one week, but I’ve gotten free gas so I’d probably hit it during the cycle. Is this a weekly limit or a gas points period limit I wonder? If its a weekly limit I could live with that.

  10. Doug-Linda says:

That is news to me…I didn’t notice the “limit” anywhere.

  11. Amy says:

I was wondering the same thing.

  12. Shannon says:

what do they mean by 10 offers- is that 10 different gas point deals?
