Reader Laura R emailed me to ask about the gas deals. I guess I always overlook these, but she wanted to share these with you. (Thanks for being so generous Laura!)
Note from Laura:
The following gas deals work the BEST if you have a vehicle or means of obtaining the full 30 gallons allowed. We have a truck that I can normally get 28 or so gallons into and then carry our gas can for the lawn mower to get the last 2 gallons. I also look at these deals in that I HAVE to buy gas… so I see it as I’m still paying for the gas…and getting the food/products for cheap/free!
If you are not getting the full 30 gallons, be sure to adjust your prices accordingly.
Deal #1 (Buy 7 get $0.20 off per gallon)
Budweiser Barbecue Sauce $1 x 7 = $7 – ($0.20/gal x 30 gal =$6.00 off gas) = $1 for 7 bottles
Campbell’s V8 Splash $2.00 x 7 = $14.00 – 3 $1/2 coupons from 6/6 SS = $11.00 – ($6.00 in gas) = $5 for 7 bottles of V8
Sun Crystals Sweetner $2.50 x 7 = $17.50 – 7 $2/1 coupons from 7/25 RP = $3.50 – ($6.00 in gas) = $2.50 overage!! for buying
Sobe Life Water $1.09 x 7 = $7.63 – ($6.00 in gas) = $1.63 for 7 bottles
Solo Ultra Plates and Cups $2.00 x 7 = $14.00 – 7 $1/1 coupons from 6/20 SS = $7 – ($6.00 in gas) = $1 for 7 products!
Kellogg’s Poptarts $2.00 x 7 = $14.00 – 3 $1/2 coupons from 7/11 SS = $11.00 – ($6.00 in gas) = $5 for 7 boxes
Reddi Whip Aerosol Whipped Cream $2.00 x 7 =$14 – 4 $1/2 coupons from 6/20 SS = $11.00 – ($6.00 in gas) = $5 for 7 cans
Deal #2 (Buy 5 get $0.20 off per gallon)
GIANT Broccoli Florets, Sugar Snap Peas, Brussels Sprouts, Petite Peas, Whole Green Beans, Baby Lima Beans, or Super Sweet White Corn, etc $1.25 x 5 = $6.25 – ($6.00 in gas) = $0.25 for 5 bags!
GIANT Salad Dressing $1.50 x 5 = $7.50 – ($6.00 in gas) = $1.50 for 5 bottles
Deal #3 (Buy 4 get $0.20 off per gallon)
Kleenex Facial Tissues 3 Pack $4.49 x 4 = $17.96 – 4 $1/1 coupons from 7/11 SS = $13.96 – ($6.00 in gas) = $7.96 for 12 boxes of Kleenex
Scott 4 Roll Bath Tissue $2.99 x 4 = $11.96 – ($6.00 in gas) = $5.95 for 16 rolls of TP ($0.37/roll)
A HUGE Thanks to Laura for this! If you would find this valuable each week, please let me know by leaving a comment.

yes i would love to see these each week too
Hi Ladies,
I use gas rewards as often as I can. I haven’t paid for gas in at least 6 months. The trick is to stock up on $1.00 or less items unless you have a really great coupon match -up. For example, when Propels are $1.00 x 7= $7.00- $6.00(gas)= $1.00 for 7 Propels. This deal is umlimited for you could buy 49 Propels for $49.00 -$1.40/gallon in gas(not worth the deal unless you fill up 30 gallons). Please don’t forget to buy 2-3 5 gallon gas cans from Walmart or Sears to fill-up at the same time as you fill-up your 1 vehicle. It specifically states only 1 vehicle fill-up, but you should always get 30 gallons with your cans. Gas can be stored in cool dry places or give the filled gas cansto neighbors or family. If you are practically getting the gas for free, why not share or split the price. Good luck and happy shopping! Tiffany from Hanover, PA
Love the gas points scenarios! Every matchup helps. Thanks so much for your efforts and sharing it with us.
I am always anxiously waiting for your post for the gas points b/c I can’t find anyone else that even cares to post about the gas deals! I love it and hope that you continue. My fiance has a F250 truck that uses ALL of those 30 gallons…so any money saved for that thing is helpful! On average I usually save 1.00 per gallon…if you add that money saved over the year it adds up BIG TIME!!! Again thank you!!!!
This has really made me think about working the gas rewards a little more! Great post!
Yes, this is VERY helpful, because my Giant in Mechanicsburg PA does the gas rewards…. thanks!
Actually…I made even more than I posted above… but the deal is currently dead
When I went this morning to get 7 Budweiser BBQ sauces = $7 get $0.20/gal the catalina machine printed 7 x $2.50 OYNO = $17.50 OYNO cats in ONE transaction!! I ended up with a total of 16 BBQ sauces = $40 OYNO cats! before the catalina company shut this one down! My sister and my father were also running this deal in neighboring towns and they cats stopped printing around 2:15 EST… actually mid print for my dad (10 and 1/2 of his 14 printed! lol) SOOOO if you factor in my $40 in cats and the idea that I will be redeeming my gas points in Huntingdon… I made $56+ today!!
I don’t mind continuing to do them!
I’m extremely lucky…IMO… I shop in an area that routinely gives $0.20/gal (200 points) as their deals (100 points = $0.10/gal). My parents live in Huntingdon, PA where they have 50 points = $0.10/gal… so I take my 200 points earned and turn them into 400 points when I fill up in their area. I hope that makes sense.
By doing some of the gas deals I posted, I spent $55.34 today OOP…but will get back $1.20 off per gal = $36.00 in my area… or $2.40 off per gal = $72.00 at my parents!! = that’s a $16+ Money Maker for food and products I needed anyway!!
I would love to see these with the coupon matchups every week! Very helpful, thank you!
I am also surprised about a 2 car fill up. In order to make the most of it my husband takes our SUV, fills it up and then fills the rest into gas cans. We store it in the garage and fill up whichever vehicle needs it first. The attendant contacted corporate and they said that filling the gas cans is completely okay. Free gas is a great thing!!!
Although I’m happy for the deals, an 11 gallon fill up usually doesn’t amount to much in savings most of the time. And actually, I’m surprised that Lysa can get away with 2 vehicle fill-ups. Giant’s policy specifically states up to 30 gallons on a single vehicle. I am pretty sure that 2 vehicles aren’t allowed. But if the attendants aren’t stopping you, congratulations!
Love the gas points scenarios. My goal has been to get free gas and have done this since March..with a few exceptions. Doing gas points has cut my food budget in half!! It kills me to pay for gas. I appreciate the scenarios since the last 2 weeks have been poor gas point weeks. Keep them coming and I’ll pass any along that I find.
Yes please I would love to see the gas deals each week.
I would love seeing these each week
And a $1 for the Reddi Whip in the new Aug. All You. And these
are greatly appreciated. Go Laura!
There are also .55/1 and $1/2 Budweiser bbq sauce coupons that sweeten this deal.
I’d love the continued post of gas deal ideas. I dont find that I use too many of the gas points products, so I dont do the deals very often, but every few months I’ll hit on a really good deal with coupons, and is worth it if I was already going to buy the product. Our van only holds about 21 gallons, so I figure I’m saving $2 for every 10 cents in points. When you look at it that way, you really have to make sure the deals are worth it, because I have to spend $100 in groceries to save $2 on gas (without the other special gas deals). The Weis in our area is now doing 20 cents per $100 – which is like saving $4 on gas for $100 in groceries. I especially like when the special deals work out evenly – something like I spent $10 on the special gas points products to save $10 on gas. It’s like free food!! But again, I’d love to hear what other people are doing or their scenarios, because it is always helpful!! Thanks, Shannon!
Me and my bf take both of our vehicles to fill them up to the maximum 30 gals. Cause both of our cars only hold about 15 gals.- gotta save every penny!
I wish I had a vehicle that needed enough gas to actually get that great a savings! When you only get about 10 gallons of gas the savings aren’t nearly as good. I still do look at the gas deals though, I work in the same shopping center as my Giant!
Yes please! We have gas deals too and I’d love for you to continue them!
We do a lot of the gas deals too, once I saved $2.60 per gal….I kept that gas receipt….so fun looking at where we paid like $.19 a gal!!
I would love to see the Giant Gas deal matchups continued please!
We use the gas deals like crazy. If I have coupons for the items I always make the gas deals. One time we had $1.20 off, making the gas close to a dollar!! Saved about $30 that week on gas
@Raina,
Good to know. Maybe Laura would help me with these.
