Swagbucks for the Holiday’s Update

March 18, 2010

Back in January, I told you how I was going to use Swagbucks to pay for Christmas. I cannot believe its mid March already!

So I wanted to check up and see how everyone is doing with saving their Swagbucks for the Holidays. I know it is really hard to think about the holidays right now, but 1/4 of the year is almost over!

So how are you doing?

  1. Sarah Anderson says:

I am doing this and so far I have $55 worth of Amazon giftcards, at this rate I think I will make a good dent in the Christmas budget. :)

  2. Heidi says:

I decided to cash my Swagbucks in for Amazon gift cards also. My question is this – Should I transfer the gift card to Amazon and have them hold it as a credit to my account? or leave them on my Swagbucks account? (Not sure if the Amazon cards expire within 30 days like the Paypal) Thanks for everything!

  3. Kelly W says:

I have 1202 swag bucks so far. I was just going to let them build and then get the gift cards in November for Christmas. I guess I should move them over in case SB goes under or something.

How long are the gift cards good once transferred to Amazon?

  4. Steph says:

Is it just me or is it more of a bargain to purchase the $5 amazon card versus the $25 amazon card? And has anyone gotten the larger gift cards like ITunes?

  5. maranda o says:

i have a few gift cards right now, and i am worried about looseing them if something happens to swagbucks. how do you transfer them to amazon, or is that just the amazon gift cards you are talking about?? would like to have them as a credit but dont know how to do it! thanks:)

    • Shannon says:

      Marana,

It is amazon gift cards we are talking about.

We cash out swagbucks for amazon cards and then apply them to our accounts.

  6. Molly says:

I just started Swagbucks 3 weeks ago (during the big birthday celebration) and got two $5 Amazon cards within the first two weeks! Today I’m about 80 points away from my third. I’ve decided to add these to the $23 I had leftover in my Amazon account and save up for an Ipod Nano :)

  7. jenny says:

I’m afraid I’m not doing as well as the rest of you. I’ve been doing it for about 2 months and have only 383 swag bucks to speak of…

    Any advice ??

    • Shannon says:

      Jenny,

are you searching everyday? are you keeping an eye out for codes? are you doing the special offers?

  8. Tiffany says:

I’ve got 2764 swagbucks right now!

  9. Brandi Parshley says:

I have 1200 points! I only started in January and I don’t look for the codes, just do searches, but I’m making good progress! I was going to just save up the points and buy the giftcards at once, but I think I’ll cash out like you ladies are saying. Thanks for the tips!

  10. CouponLady1979 says:

I’m doing just ok, I have about 300 SB’s and I signed up during the B’day celebration, but I have several questions
    1. How many SB’s do I need for a $5 gift card?
    2. Where exactly do I go on SB website to “buy” the $5 GC, I’ve looked and can’t seem to find something that cheap!
    3. When I see the links on blogs that say go HERE for a free swag code, I go there and can’t find it, what’s the trick
    Thanks!!

    • Shannon says:

You can go to the Swagstore to see how much each giftcard costs. Many times those codes are on the swagbucks blog, so you want to go to the homepage and then choose the blog.

  11. Sonia says:

I started at the end of January. So far I’ve received $75 in Amazon gift cards and I’ve still got 1615 points in my account. And I still don’t have a single referral! I did turn in enough points to get one $25 Amazon card, just because I was trying to make a dent in a new Britax booster seat for my 4 year old – then they raised the sale price in Amazon for the seat! Oh, well… it’s still nice to see that credit building in my Amazon account :) I love Swagbucks!

  12. Kristin says:

I decided to start redeeming mine just in case also. There is also a limit of 2 a day and 5 a month so I didn’t want to get to October and not be able to redeem all of my SB’s for GC’s. I just redeemed 5 GC’s and my new totaly in My Amazon account is $75! I think we’re going to have a good Christmas.

  13. karla says:

I would be doing okay if I would stop redeeming my cards! I have redeemed 3 $5 Amazon cards and 1 $5 Alice.com gift card. I have 525 swagbucks right now that I’ve gotten just since the beginning of the month. I’m pretty happy with that.

  14. LilKim says:

Between Swagbucks, Viewpoints, ExpoTV, and SuperPoints, I have $200 in Amazon Gcs saved up.

  15. karla says:

How do you transfer them to Amazon?

  16. Tuesdae says:

Okay…I’ve been doing it since last month and only have 334 SB. I do searches everyday but most searches I do…do not result in getting SB’s. So, my question is…what do you search for and how do you find ‘codes’

  17. EgyptLyn says:

Don’t do swagbucks but Have over 10,000 My Points and $55 in Target Gift Cards that I got free for buying Sobe water, etc. I also have various survey points with different survey companys that I can convert to gift cards!

  18. Meredith says:

I have gotten two $5 Amazon giftcards from swagbucks so far and am pretty close to a third one. And I just cashed in my mypoints for a $25 amazon giftcard, so it looks like by the time the holidays get here, I’ll have a nice little stash on Amazon to add to the budget.

  19. Bethany says:

Between my swagbucks, surveys, shop at home rebates and such, I have $223!

  20. Nanell says:

I have $45 in my amazon account and almost to another $5 one. Now if Hubby will stop spending them. I can also redeem for a $25 amazon one thru mypoints.

  21. Courtney says:

I suggest you get friends to sign up. My highest “income” on swagbucks are my referrals. BUT other ways include being a fan on Facebook (they always give out codes), downloading the toolbar, and doing a “special offer”. I did the 2 week free trial of netflix and cancelled before the two weeks were up. Still got the swagbucks AND got a few free movies out of it.

  22. Michelle says:

I’ve wondered this myself…can you tell me why it’s better to get the $5 ones?

  23. DanielleCorrelle says:

I have no idea, lol. I don’t really keep track of what I earn, I just spend it (my amazon gc balance) when I find a good deal (like the $2.50 American Girl dvd, etc) and I put things away. I have three rubbermaid bins in my closet, one for each of my girls and one for random things I’m not sure who to give to yet or things that go for both of them to share. I already have a few Christmas presents tucked away. Mostly I’ve focused on Easter first though (I do a few small gifts instead of a bunch of candy), then I’ll start with more for Christmas.

  24. Stephanie says:

I’ve earned $40 in gift cards for Amazon. I have 445 swagbucks right now, so close to another $5 for Amazon. I do Mypoints to and have earned $125 in Target gift cards, we’re saving these along with the buy items at Target, get $5 gift cards. Our goal at Target is to get a Dyson vacuum.

My husband is very shocked and proud at how quick I’ve been able to get a gift closet stocked (for our kids and birthday parties) and a good bit of $ saved towards the vacuum and Christmas shopping.

Thank you very much for all of the deals you’re posting.
