Chocolate Covered Blueberry Milkshake Recipe
Summer is here and it is HOT! I am sweltering over here. I have to admit, summer is not my favorite season unless I can spend it near the ocean. Since I cannot quit my job and move to coast, I have to find other ways to beat the heat. When shopping for groceries at Kroger, I picked up Promised Land Milk and Breyers All Natural Vanilla Ice Cream. Milkshakes, I was going to make milkshakes. If I couldn’t take a dip in the ocean, I was going to cool off with the ultimate summer indulgence, a milkshake.
I like to use Breyers All Natural Vanilla because I can get creative with my milkshake recipes. Breyers is also made from fresh simple ingredients and contains milk and cream from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones. I wanted to come up with something tasty and not the usual chocolate or vanilla shake. It still had to be an indulgent and fun treat. I picked up a beautiful package of blueberries in the same shopping trip and decided I wanted to make a blueberry milkshake and not just any blueberry milkshake. I wanted to make a Chocolate Covered Blueberry Milkshake. Yumm! I don’t have to feel too guilty because I am getting fruit in my milkshake! I used dark chocolate chips too and dark chocolate is good for you. Yes, that is my story and I’m sticking to it!
I mixed a couple of generous scoops of Breyers with about 1/3 cup of Promised Land Milk. I like to use Promised Land Milk because it is creamier, richer and higher in protein and calcium. Their milk comes from Jersey cows– less than 10% of the milk in the U.S. comes from Jersey cows. I mixed in some fresh blueberries and a handful of dark chocolate chips with the ice cream and milk and blended. In just a few seconds I had a Chocolate Covered Blueberry Milkshake.
This milkshake was absolutely yummy! Creamy and sweet with just a hint of chocolate flavor. I whipped a few of these and we spent the night enjoying a movie and the air conditioning. This was #MyMilkshakeUp and the complete recipe is below. I hope you try it. If you are not a blueberry fan, this would work well with strawberries too. Hmmm, a chocolate covered strawberry milkshake sounds divine!
