At least once a week there is free sample in my mailbox, often a few times a week. Sometimes my friends wonder why I even request the samples – alot of them are small or not a full usage size. So why should you request samples?
1. Some samples include a coupon. Some of the best coupons I have ever received are from sample requests. Companies give you the sample of their products so that you will try it, and then buy it. What better way to get you to buy it than a coupon! I often save these coupons for great sales. They usually have longer than circular coupons expiration dates, so you can wait it out.
2. Food samples are sometimes full servings. I have received countless food samples that are great for snacks for my son or to throw in his lunch. These samples are great, we have received everything from granola bars to brownies!
3. Health and beauty products are perfect travel sizes. Save them for when you go out of town or when you are sending the kiddos to spend time at the grandparents. On a recent trip, we had nothing but samples in our toiletry case. They are good for when your older children go to a sleepover as well.
4. Perfect size for airline regulations. The TSA has laws in place that only allow small amounts of liquid on planes. Most of the samples I receive are under this requirement. It saves me from buying a trial size, and from having to check my bag.
5. Sometimes I just run out of stuff (please don’t admit that to my husband, I NEVER FORGET ANYTHING
, that’s when I hit my sample drawer. I have almost everything you can think of in there.
6. Trial sized aspirin and such are great to throw in your purse or diaper bag for a road trip. Any medical supply in a trial size is great.
7. You can donate toiletries to shelters, etc. if you can’t use them or even if you can. My son’s school frequently has donation drives. It is a great way for me to help without paying alot. It also teaches my son about giving!
8. I like free stuff, doesn’t everyone?

I would love to join this….how do I do it?
HOW DO YOU REQUEST FREE SAMPLES?
I use samples for when the grandkids spend the night.
I also run out of items sometimes, last week I ran out of shampoo, so I went to my handy dandy sample drawer!! I am going on vacation and I plan on using samples, they are much lighter to pack and don’t take up as much room as full size products.
Not only are sample sizes great, but all those “free” deals that Shannon posts help me to make up RAOK boxes (random acts of kindness). Once I fill up a box with a good variety, I donate them to the local Salvation Army “Matts” program for the homeless, or pack them up and mail them off to a friend who might be having a hard time. You would not believe how much these boxes can pick spirits up! I don’t have much money, but I do what I can, and “free” is always doable!
Agreed…I save up toiletry samples all year for when we take vacations – especially because I hate hotel soap and shampoo!
you forgot to mention job security for the post office!
I love free samples!
Free samples sure beats bills!!!! My kids love getting our mail and seeing what kind of goodies we get. Just yesterday I received my P&G samples with some really nice coupons. I have a whole box of freebie stash for traveling.
Mail is FUN!! Especially when it isn’t bills!
I agree with you Shannon – samples/trial sizes are great for so many reasons. We’re due to visit my family in England and you can bet my suitcase and carry on is gonna be stuffed with the wonderful samples and trial sizes I’ve received over the months.
Hi Shannon! It was so much fun meeting you tonight! I am loving your blog and so excited to get a chance to work with you in the future!
#9 Plus its free and free stuff rocks
Agreed on all accounts! It is so much fun to go ‘Shopping’ in my sample bin when we go away! Especially nice are the perfume samples. You don’t have to worry about packing a glass bottle that can break and end up making your luggage reek. Not that I’ve had that happen or anything
All perfect reasons to request them!!
