Walgreens Balance Rewards Program

There are changes coming to the Walgreens Rewards Program.  What do you think of the changes?

Here is what you need to know:

The Walgreens Balance Rewards Program is launching next month.

The program is simple: just sign up and start saving.  You will be able to instantly earn and redeem points for thousands of items in store and online and receive exclusive savings.

  • Members can earn points for making healthy choices, such as getting an immunization or participating in Walk with Walgreens (walk.walgreens.com).
  • A lenient, customer-friendly expiration policy – points will not expire as long as members remain active by shopping at Walgreens at least once every six months and redeem their points within three years.
  • Members may earn and redeem points for both in store and online purchases.Exclusive benefits for AARP members.

And if you are using the Register Rewards program, you’ll be able to use those in conjunction with the Balance Rewards program for the foreseeable future.

Register Rewards is a couponing program while Balance Rewards is a comprehensive loyalty program that offers exclusive savings and the opportunity to earn points and instantly redeem rewards.

Starting Thursday September 6th – 15th, you can join online . For those taking advantage of the online enrollment period, Walgreens is running the Balance Rewards 10 Million Point Giveaway September 6 – 15th. During this time, customers who join Balance Rewards online or through the mobile app will have a chance to enter to win. Customers can earn additional entries into the sweepstakes by referring friends and family to the program. 10 Grand Prize Winners will each win 1 million points in their Balance Rewards account that can be redeemed at Walgreens stores, Walgreens.com, or Duane Reade stores.

At my local Walgreens, one of the cashiers was bragging to me that the Register Reward program will end on September 16 and she seemed so pleased about it. She was gloating that I wouldn’t be able to get anymore free stuff. I told her that she was misinformed and this was just another program that would save me even more money. I told her that CVS has a similar program which you earn points for beauty items and one receives a $5.00 coupon after you reach your points. The lack of professionalism at some Walgreens is really beyond my comprehension.
I got my rewards card three days ago and I already knew all the details about the program from a very friendly manager at another Walgreens a few miles away.

I miss CVS. The Walgreen’s cashiers out here are friendlier, but the managers are much worse.
