My Rite Aid $17.00 Money Maker

March 16, 2010

So I had to modify my scenario just a bit, but made out well!  I paid 7.39 and will get back $25.00! Now that is good stuff guys!

I also did a little video of my shopping! It is very blair whitchy, but fun never the less! Notice how I get sidetracked by clearance stuff.. oh and sorry about the whispering.. nothing like walking around talking to yourself.

To see exactly how I did it and a list of coupons to use, click the links below.

Love this Websight! You make it so much easier for us beginners when you break it down. Now I am finally getting the stacking down to a T! I will also be getting money back from this great rebate!
I Love when I get free stuff for my family of 8 Thankyou!
    Very Happy in Michigan!

  2. coralie says:

on march 16 you had replied to kelly that you had used your $3 off neosporin and bandaid coupon. that made me think that you had only one coupon instead of having multiple sets. some bloggers suggest buying multiple papers.

    • Shannon says:

I buy multiples.. I used them all :) Some weeks I buy one, some weeks I buy 10. Depends on the coupons. Sorry I was confused by what you were saying.

  3. coralie says:

do you really only buy 1 set of coupons, or do you just do these scenarios so that “normal” people (as opposed to coupon freaks who buy multiple papers) can see how well they can do also?

  4. CouponLady1979 says:

Ok, I have one more question
I read somewhere on here that you can only request your SCR’s once a month. So is that Calendar month? I ask b/c I saw that I have until April 26th to request my check for the J&J rebate. So what if I do a purchase for an SCR in April….could I submit my March J&J SCR in April (before the 26th) but still be able to request a check in April for an April SCR
    DID I MAKE ANY SENSE? b/c I’m confusing myself now….. :) help!

  5. Anonymous says:

I did the scenario and it worked beautifully but now that I am home and read the rebate instructions I’m worried. I bought children’s benedryl instead of the regular and the J & J baby wash I bought is cucumber scent. Will the rebate still work or did it have to be those EXACT products?

    • Shannon says:

      I would imagine they would.

Here is what I would do.. get your receipt entered in now. Like right now. and check it first thing on Saturday to make sure it went through. I am thinking it should still work – but if it doesn’t go exchange them at Rite Aid for a different one and enter your new receipt. You should be fine.

  6. Jessica Andrews says:

This scenario worked great!!! Total OOP for me was 2.76 making it a $22.24 Money Maker for $56 worth of stuff. I couldn’t believe all my coupons went through. Thanks for all the deals!

  7. Victorino says:

If all the Math are correctly applied, then numbers are telling us the truth. That’s a great shopping strategy. Thank your for blogging and sharing these coupons that help us to save our money.

  8. Laura says:

Oh and Shannon, you are a God-send! My hubby thinks so to! Can’t believe all of the money that we are making and saving! Wow. Thanks for all of your hard work!!!

  9. Laura says:

Can you get whatever item out of the brands listed for the rebate? Or is it item specific? I was just wondering if you could get Chilldren’s Benadryl tablets rather than the adults, for example. Or is it just the ones pictured at Rite Aids SCR page? Thanks!

  10. Kristy says:

I didn’t have the Sudafed coupons and my Cortaid was only $1, so I don’t think it’s worth the trouble once you include all the tax that I’ll have to pay :/ Glad it worked for you.

  11. Jennifer says:

Shannon – I am getting my coupons together now. Is there a reason you didn’t use another Visine coupon for $2 off in transaction too from the RP??

    Thanks.

    Jennifer

  12. cc says:

    Michele
Got it, so do you not have to pay tax where you live or something? If not that’s awesome!! I worked this one today and ended up doing 4 transactions (I had enough visine coupons to get four for free but had to do the 4 separate transactions to make it work) and my OOP was $10.33 and that included tax, actual items cost was around $5 before tax, I was proud of myself for this one!!

  13. Trish says:

Shannon – Just got back from Rite Aid and it was a headache as usual. I used my BOGO Stayfree coupon and another $1 Stayfree coupon in my transaction. The cashier, who was backed up by the manager, said that the lower priced item, the one 50% off, was the one that would be counted against my BOGO coupon. So $1.99 was taken off my total instead of $3.99. I thought that it was the regular priced item and not the 50% off item that would be taken off with my BOGO coupon. Am I right or are they? Help!

    • Shannon says:

      Trish,

Sigh. I am sorry that you had a hassle. Ok based on their BOGO policy, I am of the belief that the first $3.99 would be taken off not the $1.99. Because you would be getting the $1.99 from Rite Aid and the Free one from the manufacturer.

      Sorry.

  14. Michele says:

    The math is
price, coupons, final price of item.

  15. Michele says:

cc-There was no tax. I think the 2x by bandaids is throwing it off. Hopefully this copies ok from excel.
    Benadryl $5.49 $3.00 $2.49
    Stayfree $4.29 $4.29 .
    Stayfree $2.14 $1.00 $1.14
    Bandaid $3.98 $2.00 $1.98
    Visine $4.99 $5.00 $(0.01)
    $(5.00)
    sub $20.89 outofpocket $0.60

  16. Beth Z says:

me too! Shannon, what region are you in?

  17. cc says:

Hi there, so I’m trying to do the math, but your OOP total of .61 is before tax right?

  18. Michele says:

Thanks for posting your scenarios. I went today and did:
    Benadryl $5.49-$3
    Bandaid 2x $3.98-$2
    Visine $4.99-$5—>adjust $4.99
Stayfree $4.29-$4.29 bogo Q…I told her the price
    stayfree 50% @ $2.14-$1
    -$5/$20
    total OOP .61

I already had $7.98 for J&J from last week. I am going back tomorrow to wrap up and it will be a $15.73 MM for me.

  19. Deepika says:

I used the $4 wyb Benadryl and sudafed from safeway booklet Q ;$3 Visine from March All you in and paid only 3.18 in OOP. A $21.82 Moneymaker.
    Thanks for the match ups.

  20. Brandi says:

Oh my gosh! That is hilarious! If I was in RA when you were filming that I would have thought you were crazy!

  21. Christa K. says:

Whew! Went to RiteAid last night. Was needing to get some Zyrtec anyway. Got 2 Zyrtec, 2 Johnson’s baby wash & 2 Visine. After coupons & rebates it will cost a total of $.34!

  22. Kelly W says:

Worked like a charm! Thanks so much Shannon!

Also there are some pretty cheap peanuts to be had this week too. Not free but still good. There is a $1.50/1 Planters coupon for becoming a fan on FB. Use 2 towards 2 24 oz planters peanuts that are $5.99 on BOGO and get 2 cans for $1.50/each. There is a deal you can work out to get 6 cans and use the $3/15 coupon along with getting the $3 SCR but it was a last minute thing before running out the door and I didn’t get a chance to work it out.

  23. Stacie says:

I did two transactions for the rebate. One was exactly like Shannon’s, and in the other I substituted a cortaid for the baby lotion and neutrogena make-up remover for the stay free. My total OOP was $4.89, so I have a $20.00 overage!!

  24. Amy says:

    Shannon,
I used your exact scenarios, except I had the $3 off of $15 Qs instead of $5 off of $25…worked beautifully! Thanks!

  25. Amy says:

My 3/14 RP had .50 off bandaids in it.

  26. Anna says:

If you go to the single check rebates section on Rite Aid’s website, you can click on the “show details” section and it will tell you what your current total spent is! hope this helps- i had trouble finding it the other day as well!

  27. Dara says:

I went to Rite Aid yesterday …the first time in a long time. I was going to plan another trip today. But is there anyway to tell how much more I need to spend to get the J&J rebate?

  28. Emily says:

I know coupons vary by region, but I can’t believe I did not get ANY of the same RP coupons this week that you used in your transactions! Very frustrating!

  29. Kari says:

I can’t find the Visine printable coupon…any ideas where else I can look?

  30. Dizzy Mommy says:

I had a .50 off Bandaids coupon in my 3/14 SS ( I think…maybe RP). But it was there.

  31. Nedra Lytle says:

This is amazing! You’re truely an inspiration!! Great couponing.

  32. Kelly W says:

Just found a $3 off 1 Band aid and 1 Neosporin in the 2/21 SS. I had used all my Band Aid coupons for free ones at Target so had to go searching for another. Just use this one instead of the individual ones.

  33. Dot says:

I did a similiar scenario but bought some of the benadryl ready mist my son is allergic to poison ivy so need all the benadryl I can get but my money maker is $14.89 but I am still very happy! Thanks for the video!

  34. DanielleCorrelle says:

Awesome! :o ) Loved your video. I am out of printer ink (oh no!) *and* my paper stopped carrying the SS so I’m losing out on a lot of great deals lately.

I had a bad experience at my local Rite Aid so I stopped shopping there (even though I was right and the district manager backed me up and apologized…I just wasn’t feeling it any more), but all these good deals are making me want to give it another go. Can you request a gift card be sent to you instead of a check for the rebates, or do you just use the rebates to purchase a gift card? I’m a total Rite Aid newbie since I quit shopping there before I even really started, lol.

    • Shannon says:

      Danielle,

No you cannot request a gift card, but I just buy one with the rebates.

  35. Kristin M says:

I do the SAME thing in my grocery cart as you. Sometimes I have piles going up by my purse, sometimes piles UNDER the cart. LOL Thanks for the vid.

  36. Wendy says:

Anyone know where I can find a coupon for band aids right now???

    • Shannon says:

Wendy, I dont know that there are any other than the 01/03 Red Plum. Can anyone help her?

  37. Wendy says:

I was planning my trip for tomorrow and now needed to add the band aids due to the Princess & the Frog Rebate :)

  38. Lisa says:

oh, also forgot to ask, can I use the $3 off when you buy neosporin and band-aid coupon along with the $1 off band aid coupon together?

  39. sharon says:

I like your idea of buying gift cards with the rebate money. That way, you can keep track of the money and like you said, not spend any cash.

  40. Lisa says:

Shannon, which Rite Aid do you go to (if you don’t mind me asking)?

  41. Linda S says:

You said your video is Blair Witchy—LMAO–Do the people at RiteAid look at you funny when you go there? Did you get all of them to join your blog.

  42. Love it! You must really have a good relationship to whip out the video camera at checkout:)

  43. Kelly W says:

Great video! I just got the Princess & the Frog video today. To get the rebate I would have to buy 2 boxes of band aids right?
