Just a reminder, the +UP Rewards are now being loaded directly to your Rite Aid Wellness card starting today -if you have not opted out.
If you haven’t opted out of the new Rite Aid Load2Card feature, just a quick update on how your +Up Rewards will look. At the bottom of your receipt, you will get a print out of what +UP Rewards you earn. (see photo)
As a reminder, your +UP Reward will not be valid until 6 am the next day.
To OPT out, you can call customer service, do an online chat or at the register.
I am curious to hear what you decided to do? Opt Out or use the Load2Card feature?

HELP! I went to Rite Aid today to get the deal on the nivea lip products. it was supposed to be buy for 2.50 each use (3) 3.00/1 coupons. pay 6.00 and get 5.00 back.
The cashier said the printer would not print my up rewards. I purchased 6 Nivea lip care products total came to $15 before the $10 up rewards came off and the (3) 3.00/1 coupons. No reward printed. Had to return it and get the cash value of my coupons and the product back. I now have no coupons to try this deal at another Rite Aid. What should I have done? Can customer service fix this? Did I loose my rewards?

How can I find out how much plus reward I have on my card since I never opt out?
cruelas says
Did anyone find the answer to this?
(I don’t know if anyone is still checking these older posts:), but I figured I’d give it a try).
Is there a way to call or look online to check your reward balance?
Ruchama says
Yes, go to Riteaid.com and log into your account. It’ll take you to the wellness+ Dash board page. Scroll down a bit, and there’s a place where it says “+UP savings available:” That tells you your total amount. If you click on the “Load and Manage Coupons” button, and then then “Rite Aid Rewards” tab, it’ll show you the whole breakdown.
Amber says
Just so everybody knows,
Ask your cashier to scan your coupons first and THEN allow you to enter your wellness rewards number. This will allow you to use all of your coupons and then the +UP rewards will be applied to the remaining balance before taxes. The cashier is able to enter the rewards information at any time during a transaction, but this way you will never have to worry about not being able to use your coupons because your +UPs are applied first and bring down your balance too much.
I hope this helps!

Awesome Amber!! I was wondering if it would work out right that way, it’s been a real pain trying to always top my last purchases so I can use my up rewards and my coupons. I’ve even had to buy stuff I wouldn’t have otherwise purchased just so I could use my coupons… the cashiers were useless to help me when I had an issue..

If u make a return u lose your rewards

Ok I haven’t shopped at Rite-aid in a while so I am late but I encountered the same issues as everyone else this weekend with the usage of coupons and rewards in the mix. In addition, how will your gold discount work if you are not scanning it until the end? If I opt out do I lose the amount on the card already?
Anonymous says
Some cashiers are so out of it though

I was in a Rite aid this weekend and the cashier refuse to start my transaction until I give her my rewards card. She said that “it will not work with the coupons” if I don’t give her the card first. Then I tried to explain that my coupons will not apply as I have lots of rewards loaded onto my card and some of my coupons will not take. She proceed to say that I “need to use up all the rewards in the card before I can apply any coupons.” I was thinking, you kidding me? At the end, I let her scan my card and bought more things to cover all the rewards loaded onto my card. However, there were coupons that did not automatically scan and then she refuses to take them as she said the computer would not take it! Woah! Some cashiers so I ended up getting nothing as for sure she has no idea what she was talking about! So disappointing. :(

I opted out at the register and then used all my +up rewards to purchase a coupon binder. They would not scan, so the cashier entered the 11 digit numbers into the regiester and I got to use my rewards right then. You have to get a very nice cashier. I couldn’t believe she went to so much trouble for me but she did! I love my Rite Aid!

I did opt out of the rewards last night but I had $10up+ rewards that were already loaded to my card from a couple days ago. I went to Rite Aid today and did my transaction that after coupons the total of my purchase should have came to about $6.50. Unfortunately, as soon as my purchase hit over $10, before she scanned any of my coupons, the $10up+ rewards were used automatically. So she scanned about half my coupons and said she couldn’t use the other coupons because the up+ was used and the balance was too low to use them. Luckily, a friend of mine was buying somthing so I added it to my purchase so I could use all my coupons but I just really didn’t like that at all. I am so happy it will not happen again since I opt out.

I’m so glad you shared this story…I did not think of this scenario.

QUESTION: (If I don’t opt out) If I were to have a $7 UPR loaded on to my card, do I have to use the whole amount on my next purchase? Or can I just use 3 or 4 dollars of it?
Chonetha says
It will use up the highest amount UP reward first.

i hate it…after my third transaction she tells me oh it’s all on your card now told her i didn’t want that i wanted to opt out she tells me oh thats not possible wtf…ahh…now want that means i really have to pay attention to what and how much is on my card…

I am probably one of the few that LOVE this idea… Last week I got about $30 of +UPs and nearly had a heart attack when I thought I lost them. I shop at Rite Aid all the time and frequently use the Load2Card feature to clip coupons on the web to use on my trips there, either through the Rite Aid website, or SavingStar. Having the +Ups on my card will only make my trips that much easier. Sometimes I feel like I get attitude from the cashiers when using coupons, and then giving them a high valued +Ups to redeem, so this will at least get rid of my needing to carry along those receipts. I always tend to use all my +Ups on each trip, so I don’t think I will have the situation with lesser valued ones expiring before I’ve used them.
Have not used it yet, but will keep you posted on how this goes :)

Amber, definitely give us some feedback!

I opted out right at the register and it was effective immediately. The only problem is you can’t use the up rewards until the next day. The effective date range prints on the up rewards. So frustrating but I didn’t want them to use my up rewards unless i want to use them myself!
Lisa says
Well I haven’t shopped at Rite Aid since the change but I already HATE it. So I will not be shopping there as much any more. Can someone tell me what it means to “opt out”?
For the Mommas says
Lisa,
It means your UPR will print on your receipt instead of load to card.
Lisa says
Ok, so just without the barcode right? So when we’re ready to use it, is it the same procedure as before? Or is the receipt just letting us know what’s on our card? sorry a lil confused.
Lisa Perry says
I used my remaining paper UPS on Sunday and received 13 new ones and was not given the option to opt out. I asked if I would be given the option of when I wanted to use them & the store manager was called over to the register to answer my question — he told me that the UPS will be used immediately the next time I make a purchase. I am concerned about some expiring and the UPS not being used in the correct order. If I now have 13 electronic UPS sitting on that card, can I still opt out or am I now stuck? I like the idea of keeping those ups in my wallet with my cash and spending them like cash.
For the Mommas says
You can still opt out. Unfortunately, you have to ask at the register, they are not going to ask you if you want to opt out. You can also call customer service. The $13 you have on the card will have to be used — but you can get the future ones printed.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this already, but I just opted out via online chat and they told me it wouldn’t be effective for 48 hours. Not sure if that will be the actual reality of how it works, but that is what they said. Also not sure if that is the same if you opt out in the store or via phone
For the Mommas says
Elizabeth,
I chose to opt out at the register and it was effective immediately. Not sure how it works vs. Online. Thanks for the heads up.
RNCALA1 says
At my local riteaid store, the cashiers were asking every customer would they want the UPs to load on their card or opt out. I decided to opt out since I shop for my 3 adult children and use their cards. Spend more out of pocket yesterday, since I could not “roll” my UP rewards, but that is okay. On my receipt for two of my cards, there was a $2.00 off my purchase for opting out.
For the Mommas says
nice I didn’t get that one!
RAemployee89 says
Be careful about bringing more than one card when you make purchases in separate transactions. We really don’t trust people that say ‘it’s my daughters/ it’s my husbands.’ They should be doing their own shopping, because for all we know, you could be using those cards to make purchases for yourself, yet you tell us it’s for a relative. It’s an LP issue.
Maggie says
I thought it was one card per household/household phone number anyway?
Andrea J says
I Agree with what’s being said…who has time to mess around on the computer to tell them which ups to use first…and what if stock issues change what I need to use. I live where decent mobile web is hard to come by, so why waste the $ on it. I have an android tablet, but the app seems to have disappeared for it, and even of it were available, there’s no wifi in my stores. I opted out today at the register, and I had to show the manager a copy of the memo explaining how to do it (and he was quite insistent that he couldn’t…even a litle rude, which is odd for my stores). Bottom line, I don’t rely on the bank to balance my checkbook, and I won’t rely on rite aid to handle my money.
For the Mommas says
agreed
Jen says
I think I may be one of the new that do not mind the new policy. Of course I just came back from RiteAid and the cashier didn’t know how to opt out at the register. She looked at me like I had 6 heads when I asked her to opt out, so I will call customer service. I personally never made back to back transactions. First, I was too embarrassed to do it and second, I always had UP rewards from previous weeks to roll. I know I will continue to shop at Rite Aid since this new policy won’t impact my way of shopping. Rite Aid always seemed to have more generous limits on certain items whereas the other stores only had limit of 1, usually RiteAid would have a limit of 2 and even sometimes 3 or 4. Just grateful I can still use coupons and save money ;)
For the Mommas says
Jen,
yes I don’t do alot of transactions either, so the next day doesn’t bother me much. However, I am concerned about it using the highest value UPRs first and having to manage it online so that they don’t. It just seems like a lot of work. Also, there were some indications that the computer takes off UPR before coupons – when I sometimes have $30-$40 worth of UPR, I would never be able to use coupons.
Too many unknowns for me to jump in. Maybe later.
Peggy says
I just came back from Rite Aid where I had about $15 loaded to my card. They used my UPRs first and didn’t allow me to use all my coupons. When I asked the manager if they could take off $2 so I could use my very last $2 coupon, she said she couldn’t do that. Because the UPRs are automatic now, she said they don’t do anything with them. That means I’m definitely opting out!
Lisa says
What does it mean to “opt out”?
tiffany says
Without a visual reminder, my shopping trips would become hectic! I can not possibly remember how many and in what amount of UPR’s I have. I also don’t want to spend even more time online managing them!! I will definately be opting out! Hopefully if enough of us do, they’ll stop the craziness!! Who know, some people may like it better, but as for me, I’m out!
For the Mommas says
That is exactly what I think . Sometimes I feel old thinking that I hate online coupons.
Tiffany says
I was part of the test area for the load to card and I would highly recommend opting out. It did not pick the up rewards that were expiring first, even if there were some that expired on the same day. It randomly picked for itself, I spent so much time on the phone with customer service, it was ridic.
For the Mommas says
Tiffany..UGH glad that I opted out today!
jessica d says
im totaly confused! so if you opt out the up prints on the receiept and you just cannot use it until the next day??
Kate says
If they load to your card you won’t be able to use the rewards to pay for another purchase if you have two wellness cards. That seems kind of a bummer. Where is this “online chat” to opt out found?
Tiffany says
even when they print you still will not be able to use them until the next day.
Kate says
yes, I do understand that part. I mean I won’t be able to use the UPRs with a different card like you can now. Since UPRs aren’t linked to a specific card # like CVS ECBs. If I bought a razor and the limit was 1 and i earned $5 UPR I couldn’t use my husband’s card to buy another razor and use those $5UPR to pay for it.
Shyra says
I use mine right away all the time and have never had any problems. I also have two cards, so I will try to opt out as well
Dawn says
I think the key to their new program isn’t so much so you forget your rewards but rather to prevent rolling. now each time you want to use your UP+ rewards you have to make a new trip the next day (or later). You’ll spend the whole week running to rite aid if you want to collect a few up+ deals – a total pain in the ass and I think rite aid forgot that it has a ton of competition. not excited for the change…
For the Mommas says
Dawn,
Yeah I can see how that would be a pain if you frequently roll UPR.
Lisa says
I totally agree. I feel bad for Rite Aid because I strongly feel there sales will go down due to the new changes being made. I shop there alot and if i have to wait the next day to use my rewards then I won’t be shopping there as much any more. That will definitely be a pain in the @ss. So they’re losing out in the long run not us.
Ruth says
I tend to lose and misplace UPRS and coupon boxes so I should have load them to my card but I don’t feel comfortable doing it. I shop too much to keep track of my rewards so today I opted out at the register. In the small town I live in all the local stores know my coupon boxes and save them for me when I leave them at the store. So far 100% of them were returned so this reaffirms my belief that most people are honest.
For the Mommas says
Wow, that is really nice!
Brooke says
I opted out about two months ago when I discovered $10.00 of rewards had expired. With a paper copy, I clip it to my calendar on shopping day so I remember to use them.
Evy says
I am going to opt out of having my +UP’s loaded onto my card. I shop way too much at Riteaid and I want to be able to control my +UP’s. I’m afraid with them deducting the higher value first, that my smaller/lesser value ones will expire. Also, this will be easier for me when I am shopping when I do mulitple transactions.
For the Mommas says
My exact concerns!
Janice says
So I decided so far not to opt out, but today I purchased the Leggs and my +Up didn’t record. Do I call customer service or go back to the store?
For the Mommas says
I think it is customer service like usual.
Ana says
what do i do to opt out? and if i do this will they continue to print out on the bottom of my receipt? I prefer this way to better control them.
For the Mommas says
You have to call or opt out at register.
Renee says
I opted out….want to be able to use them after the coupons. I am so used to having them in my wallet as a reminder to use them. I was afraid by having them load to the card, I may forget about them.
Good thing, I printed out the instruction on how to opt out at the register….of course, the girls didn’t know how…..nice to keep educating them….makes my life easier…lol
For the Mommas says
LOL ! I ended up opting out today at the register. .. easy peasy!
Lisa says
I plan to opt out because I want to control when I use the UP rewards and don’t want to miss out on using Manufacturer’s coupons because the UP reward was applied before the coupon was scanned.
For the Mommas says
I heard that they might have corrected the UPR applying before the manufacturer — where you part of the test areas?
Tiffany says
i have opted out of receiving them by online chat
For the Mommas says
that is probably the easiest way!
Jamee says
will definitely use the load2card feature if I go back to RiteAid
For the Mommas says
Awww Jamee :(
Jamee says
LOL…it’s ok
chonetha says
I’m using the load2card feature, even if you choose for it to print on your receipt, you can’t use the rewards until 6am the next day so the load2card option is less paper and I don’t have to worry about losing them.
For the Mommas says
I haven’t opted out yet for that reason. I also want to see how they apply them! I am wondering if you can pick which ones to use?
chonetha says
I read that they will apply the highest amount UP reward first which shouldn’t matter that much because even when you pay with the paper rewards, you would use as many rewards as you can towards your total purchase anyways.
For the Mommas says
My concern would be – will my small value expire if I always have larger value .. like the one dollar ones?
chonetha says
oh I think the solution to this issue would be to mange them online. I read that you can click and unclick rewards that you would like to use in your next trip. So if you had a bunch of $1 rewards and one $7 reward, you can unclip the $7 reward so that the $1 rewards would be used instead.
For the Mommas says
Hmm, not sure I would love that.
chonetha says
I downloaded the rite aid app and u can manage your rewards through your phone!
