Some of you have been told the Green Bag Tag Program at CVS will be ending. The Green Bag Tag is no longer available for sale in stores. While the program will ending, the specific time frame has not been announced.
CVS/pharmacy will be phasing out the Green Bag Tag program later in 2013 in order to focus on other environmental initiatives which we believe will have a greater impact on our local communities. Specific information on timing and future plans will be announced at a later date. While the Green Bag Tag is no longer for sale in our stores, current cardholders can continue to use their cards until the official end of the program.

Very disappointed that the program is discontinued. I saved money and help the environment using the green bag tag. I can’t see how CVS was losing money with this program.

The program has now ended. I went to my CVS today and a $2 reward printed off with the following message, “We are sorry but our Green Bag Tag program has ended. Please accept these ExtraBucks Rewards for your past participation. Your tag is recyclable.” Sad to see it go!
Amber says
Just noticed on my receipt today that the Green Bag Tag use category is gone even though the cashier scanned my green bag tag..anyone else notice it recently? I think the program is now officially discontinued :(
Amy says
I went to CVS yesterday and it’s still on my receipt.
Wendy says
At my CVS today, the clerk said that while they are no longer selling the tags, you can still use them indefinitely. He has not heard of any timeframe when it will stop. (He even has one!)
Karen B says
I was at CVS today and asked about the program, and they told me that it has already been discontinued.
For the Mommas says
Correct they are no longer selling the tags but you can use your tag until a later date. This information is directly from CVS corporate.
Nona says
Since no exp on green card when purchased, we should be reimbursed for buying it.
Emi says
Some of us made an investment in these as I bought one for my mother, my husband, and my sister and they never even used them. My husband thought that it was linked to his card through the cvs website because I have been loading their coupons onto his card. Other than my own card I never got back my initial $1 investment.

You can still make your money back! I went to my CVS today and a $2 reward printed off with the following message, “We are sorry but our Green Bag Tag program has ended. Please accept these ExtraBucks Rewards for your past participation. Your tag is recyclable.”
Pat says
Too bad. They say they will focus on something with greater impact to the community, well, I say they should focus on their customers. Even if they lowered the amount to 10 cents, that would be an incentive for me.
Beth says
I can believe they are losing money. The 2 stores out here will scan the card if you have a reusable bag or not. I do hope they come up with some kind of insentive though to get people to actually use the reusable bags.
NIKKI M says
Some of you may have noticed that it’s requiring more than the 4 uses to get $1. I think it’s at 10 for me because I just used it and thought I was getting the $1 and it says 6 more uses needed!
Krist1211 says
That’s strange. It should be every 4th time. Mine says 41 & 3 more till next reward & printed 1 the other day.
Daysha says
I think that’s the total number of times that you scanned the card so far….not the amount needed to get your next reward.
NIKKI M says
Nope that’s how many more I need.
Melanie says
I was told this week by a CVS employee that they were losing money on the program. It’s unfortunate.
Nancy says
I’m disappointed that they will be ending the program. It made me not use plastic bags at CVS and every four times of scanning the tag, you would get $1 ecb. Not sure why they couldn’t keep it going along with any new environmental initiatives for the local communities.
Steph says
BOOOO!! Love the green tags.. it’s the best way for me to remember my reusable bag!

Yeah. Disappointing
