I have a relatively organized stock pile when it comes to my food. However, my medicines and health related items where a total mess. I couldn’t find anything.
I kept asking myself, what is the point of having it, if you can’t find it. I spent some time looking at expensive organization bins and labels. I didn’t want to spend alot of money to organize my medicines. The purpose of my stockpile is to save my family money.
My bathroom cabinets are totally full with other items. This closet is located in a spare bedroom. Another problem was the shelves are up high in the closet, so I could never reach anything in the back of the closet. Things would get pushed to the back of the closet and sit there.
My medicines looked like this (No mean comments, I know it was a disgrace!)
I was able to find little baskets with handles at the dollar store. I removed the handles by clipping them with pliers. I then sorted all the items by pain medications, allergies, lip care, etc. I put them into the little baskets. They looked like this:
Because the baskets are slotted, I can see what is in the easily. I put all the baskets towards the front of the shelves, which makes it easy for me to reach. I can pull the entire basket down and grab what I need. Since they are sorted, I can find allergy medications or Tylenol when I need it. So for a whopping $4.00, I organized my stockpile. It may not be expensive and fancy looking, but it works! I also gained an entire shelf by using the baskets!
This is what it looked like when I was finished:

Hee Hee. Looks like my bathroom closet. I’ll have to follow your lead and clean up my act also. Thanks.
Great idea! I’m finding that my food is pretty easy to keep neatly arranged, but my personal care items are a disaster. I have no clue what I have right now. This has inspired me to get on the ball!
Well, I have a super organized husband so if I don’t get things organized, he does! Sometimes it is frustrating but mostly it is helpful.
I am learning though, that I do feel better about life, when things are organized so I am trying to learn how to do this more. If only it came naturally for me!
Great job on your stockpile!
I keep wishing I could either afford to hire a professional organizer to come in and get me started, or that I had a reallyyyy nice and super organized friend to come over and help. I don’t think either will happen, LOL. I try to organize but I am pretty bad at it.
I am such a slob its not even funny but the IDEA of being organized excites me! Thanks for the ideas!
Notice how the stuff is in the bin. I can’t be one of those super organized people. It just isn’t in me. This is easy to stick to and doesn’t take much time.
