re: adjusting down. When I've had coupons adjusted down at walgreens, the store clerk writes the actual price on the coupon. This is probably what is supposed to happen.

......I wish that cashiers wouldn't act like it's their money to guard in the registers. I was at Walmart a couple nights ago, and I went to put my products on the belt, the cashier called the CSM (customer service manager) over to watch me, evidently, they had talked about me before when I wasn't there. I was trying to purchase 5 trial sized Degree deodorants, 5 trial sized Dove shampoos, and 5 trial sized DOVE conditioners... So, as soon as I pulled my coupons out, the cashier hands them to the CSM and asked her, "Do these coupons work for this size?",
CSM "No, it's not for the trial size"
ME: "It would say on the coupon if it excludes trial sizes"
CSM: Why don't you just buy the regular size?
ME: Why would I if I can get these for FREE?
CSM: That's not the purpose of coupons, I have to go by the picture
Me: They can't picture every single item that the coupon is valid for, it WONT fit....you have to go by what it says! ANY means ANY!!!

...I then tried to show her a different DOVE coupon I had in my binder that DID exclude trial size, but she ignored it, she didn't want me to prove her wrong, so I just said to void everything and I'd try again after talking to the Store manager...GRRRR!!! THat's one thing I have to work on, I can't stay polite when people are being rude me....can't help it...LOL

Jessica,

Speak to the manager, that is just unacceptable. You are the customer and do not deserve to be treated that way.
Please let me know how you make out!

no question just a comment (that i have been doing back and forth in my head whether to report it or not, which i never do)...
i was at rite aid this past weekend and had lots of coupons due to $5/$20, rite aid q's, and man q's. i only bought like 6 things but i had about 9-10 coupons. So i place my stuff up there and i greet the cashier kindly (she is one that helps me alot, but dont think she remembers me) and i take my paperclipped stack out of my purse and i lay them on the table and i say "hope these dont give us too much trouble today!" and she smiles and says "oh your one of those people". and i of course said "what people" and she said" you have more coupons then products, the kind of person we get investigated for, you know like coupon theft." and i said "what i am doing is smart, not stealing" and she said "it is smart, but it can get us in trouble". she finished my transaction i said "thanks so much" and left. i have to admit, i have had cashiers not speak to me at all, or huff and puff, and i have left feeling fine, but this time i was a little bothered by being called a theif. any thoughts?

Like I said, its a tough one. It shouldn't necessarily be the case nor is it fair, but the alternative is for them not to take the coupon.

I am commenting on the portion of your post above about adjusting Qs down....

In particular, I find it interesting that stores can "profit" on my choosing their store in which to use a Q.

If a product is 75 cents, the Q is for $1, then the store makes 25 cents + 8 cents for processing when getting money from the vendor.

I realize that this doesn't happen frequently....and I do not want the overage, but I just find it curious.
