I love Fall and I love Halloween just as much, if not more. I love making lots of pumpkin recipes and different desserts with a Halloween theme. They are great for the family and even better for a Halloween party. I also love pantry type recipes. Recipes that do not require a lot of complicated or hard to find ingredients. If I have to spend $6 on an ingredient and only use a pinch of it–it probably won’t make it to my table. This Halloween Candy Corn Trifle Recipe fits all my criteria. It is super easy to make with regular every day ingredients and it looks so festive and colorful. This would be perfect for your Halloween gathering. Let me know what you think below.
Pull out a regular chocolate cake mix from your pantry (a brownie mix would work here too) and bake with ingredients listed on the box plus some pumpkin pie spice then bake according to directions on box. Cut into cubes.
Fold in red and yellow food coloring to your cool whip until you like the orange hue.
In a large glass bowl, or individual serving dishes, layer candy corn, cake pieces, cool whip, and cherry pie filling. Keep layering until ingredients are gone and ending with the cool whip. Top the trifle with more candy corn and maybe some left over cake crumbs.

Halloween Candy Corn Trifle Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 box of chocolate cake (and ingredients needed for cake)
- 1 8oz tub of cool whip
- Red and yellow food coloring
- 1 30oz can of Cherry pie filling
- 2 teaspoons of pumpkin spice
- 1 bag of candy corn
Directions:
1. Prepare cake according to directions on box, adding pumpkin spice to cake batter before baking.
2. Add red and yellow food coloring to cool whip, until desired orange hue is achieved. (I did 5 yellow, 3 red.) Gently fold in colors.
3. Once cake has cooled, gently cut cake into one inch pieces.
4. To a large glass serving bowl (or smaller containers), you’re going to layer the bottom with candy corn (as desired –I did outer edges), cake, cool whip, cherries. Continue process until ingredients are finished and you’ve reached the top.
****This is a basic Fall trifle, you can add additional flavors such as caramel pudding, or chocolate pudding. Add additional candy corn on top to make it “pop” more.****
