Learn the Perfect Way to Cook Bacon
Bacon. A little crispy, a little bit chewy, cooked perfectly, smells out of this world delicious, bacon. Is there anybody who doesn’t love bacon? Although I am sure there is, I don’t know any of them! Bacon really does make everything better, and I have had bacon in almost everything – muffins, chocolate covered bacon, bacon cupcakes.
No matter how you are eating your bacon you need to start with really good bacon and cook it perfectly. What makes good bacon? I am sure if you asked a group of people that question you would get several different answers. For me, the perfect bacon has to be just the right thickness, and just the right amount of fat and meat to make it cook up crispy, with a little bit of chew.
When I am in the mood for bacon I stop by my local Giant and pickup Wright® Brand Applewood Smoked Bacon from the refrigerated case. It comes in several tasty varieties including:
- Hickory Smoked
- Applewood Smoked
- Smoked Brown Sugar Bacon
- Bourbon Barrel Smoked
- Oak Barrel Smoked
In case you hadn’t noticed, I am picky about my bacon. Who wants to eat super greasy bacon that shrinks to nothing and ends up in pieces on your plate? I want to bite into a whole piece of chewy crispy bacon. Wright Brand Bacon has the perfect ratio of meat to fat to give you a tasty whole piece of bacon every time. Wright Brand Bacon is Bacon The Wright Way™:
- Masterfully crafted for a richer bacon experience
- Thick-sliced
- Hand-selected & Hand-trimmed
- Naturally smoked with wood chips
- Best cuts of premium meat
- High-quality
Once you pick the perfect pack of bacon, you need to cook it the best way possible. I have tried several methods and the typical pan frying method is great, but it requires a lot of hands-on cooking and flipping time. I have tried using the cooling rack method but I hate having to scrub the cooling rack. My favorite way to cook bacon? The way that ensures I have the perfect slices for eating, is bacon cooked on parchment paper. Bonus: No cleanup!
Place a sheet of parchment paper (the kind for baking) on a rimmed baking sheet. Lay your Wright Brand Bacon slices on top and put in a 400 degree pre-heated oven.
Bake for about 30 minutes – but start checking it around 15 minutes. Pull it out of the oven when it looks perfectly cooked, crisp and chewy. Drain the Wright Brand Bacon on paper towels to absorb any remaining bacon grease. The bacon is ready to serve or use in your favorite recipe. Mmm, this is yummy bacon heaven.
