I print alot. No, I print a ton. My printer is probably the second most used item in my house, after my coffee pot. If you coupon like I do, on any given day, you can print up to 30 coupons. I also use my printer to print 4 weekly grocery ads and 2 drug store ads. My husband also works from home several days a week, so we give our printer a good workout every day. We made the switch from ink jet to laser a few years back. I know that the cost of laser printers is more than ink jets, but in the long run, the cost is less. The one thing I have been missing is a color printer. I haven’t had a color printer in quite a while and when I last looked the price of a color laser printer was out of the question.

So, when Dell asked me to give their printer a test run, I wasn’t quite sure.   However, when I checked out the prices of the Dell Laser Color  printer, I was pleasantly surprised. They were actually quite reasonable, so I was willing to give it a whirl.

Before I got the Dell, I decided that I needed  a printer that can:

1. Print quickly.
2. Easy to setup  and add to my network.
3. Be cost effective.
4. Print nice quality color.
5. Fit on my small desk.

Before I got the printer out of the box, I wanted to check out how cost effective the price of printing is. I knew it wouldn’t be quite as cheap as printing black and white laser, but I was hoping it would be more cost effective than an ink jet.

Here is how it ranked:

Cost –  The Dell 1250c color was $189.99 – a really good price for a color, but the Dell 1130 is just $99.00!   Here is what I figured out – it would be roughly $.011 to print per page which is less than the ink jet I previously had. It isn’t quite as cheap as a strictly black and white laser, but the black and white cannot print beautiful color pictures – now can it!

Printing quickly – Can you say super speed? My previous printer sounded like a jet engine getting ready to take off and it was going to lift off my desk. This Dell is sweet – no loud rumbling sounds and it doesn’t take forever.

Setup – It only took me a few minutes to find the Mac Drivers online and presto, the printer was installed. I quickly shared it on my network and we can all print to it.

Print Nice Quality Color - After not having a color printer for several years, I realized how much I missed it. Evan had a school project and we were able to do his entire project in color.

Fit in a small place – The color printer took up very little space, so I was pleased that it fit.  My desk is filled to the max.
