We have made it to day 10!  If you are new couponer, hopefully you are finding this information beneficial.

Today we are going to discuss Catalinas.   If your store offers Catalinas, they definitely should become part of your couponing strategy.  Catalinas can be used to increase your savings significantly at the grocery store.

What is a catalina?

A catalina is a coupon that is printed at the register at participating stores when you purchase select participating items.

Where does a catalina come from?

The catalina coupon prints out from the catalina machine at the register. (Be sure to check the machine to see if the coupons have printed.) See Photo so you can recognize them in the store.  They are little mini printers that are next to the register.  Make sure your catalina box has  a green light on if you are using self checkout.  They will print out after you pay for bill.

How do I earn a catalina?

There are several ways to earn a catalina at checkout.

Example A: Purchase x Dollars of a product to receive a coupon for X dollars off your next order (OYNO)

In this scenario, you must purchase $12.00 worth of any of the participating products to receive  3.00 off your next order.  You may pick any of the items included in the promo. You automatically save 25% with this promotion.

Method C – File By Insert

The file by insert method is a quick way to organize your coupons.  To get started, you will need file folders, a marker/crayon, hanging folders and some sort of filing cabinet.

You can choose to use a portable filing box or a real filing cabinet. A box like the one above can be u

Learn to Coupon | How to Organize Coupons Part I

June 13, 2011

So now that you know what coupons are and where to find them, what should you do with all the coupons that you have gathered.  In my opinion, lack of organization is one of the main reasons new couponers fail.  Let’s face it, it can be very overwhelming, even for experienced couponers.

I really want to emphasize that there is not one perfect way to organize your coupons. Most people try one or more methods to find which works for them.   Do not get discourage if you are not successful on your first try.

When you are deciding which method you will use, think about how you shop:

:: Do you stick to a planned list?

:: Does your store have frequent clearance or unadvertised sales?

:: Do you have a strict budget that you must stick to?

:: How much time do you have to commit to organizing your coupons?

:: How many coupon inserts do you get each week?

Learn to Coupon | Where to Find Coupons Online

Welcome to Learn to Coupon... in 30 days. For the next 30 days (week days),  I will be posting a couponing how to.  Each day we will build on the prior days information. Where to Find Coupons

Coupons are everywhere. 20 years ago there were only a few sources of coupons. Today, you can find coupons just about everywhere.  We all know the standard Sunday newspapers – but the best coupons these days are not found in newspapers.  After coupon stacking, high value coupons is another way to say big dollars.

Over the next few days, we are going to discuss some of the well known sources and not so well known sources for coupons.   You can learn more about newspaper coupons and instore coupons. Today, we will discuss online sources.

Printable Coupons

In the last 18 months, printable coupons have become more main stream. Most stores accept printable coupons now.  Some of the best coupons are now found online.  There are two major companies that provide the “printing platforms” for companies. (essentially these companies distribute coupons).  They are Bricks and Ecentives. Both of these platforms can regulate how many coupons are printed.

Printable coupons are regulated by your IP address. (You will see coupons on most platforms by your IP Address). Companies can determine how many total coupons can be printed and how many times you can print it per computer.   There are some browsers that may be incompatible with printing coupons from either of these platforms. You will be required to download a print application to your computer. This allows them to control the number of prints.

Some of the coupon platforms require you to allow javascript and pop ups.  If you do not, you may not be able to print these coupons.
