November 3, 2011

Many of you have been asking where I find the Free Kindle Books, like Gooseberry Patch’s Savory Pie Recipes.   There are two ways.

Amazon has a list of classics that are always free. You can download them at any time for free. In addition, Amazon has a limited time promotional area of the website that lists books that are free for a limited time. Sometimes this books come and go in a matter of a day

You can bookmark this page to quickly check in on free Amazon Kindle Books. As of today, there are 257  titles available.

Hopefully this will allow you to find books quickly! No worries, I will continue to post the free books as they pop up, specifically the more popular titles.

It’s Not Always About How Much You Save

October 18, 2011

I just wanted to take a break from our regularly scheduled programming of super cheap and free stuff to share this shopping trip with you.

There is no super stellar 90% savings – but I am more proud of this trip than most. We needed a few things – soda for football game, some creamer, ice tea and trash bags. It was just a routine pickup at Walmart.

My husband used a coupon on every item, by himself. He saved a total of $9.50. At first glance, it looks like it is nothing to write home about.  However, it really is. My husband never uses coupons, so for him to save about 25% of his total bill is amazing. I am very proud of him.

Why am I writing this?  Because… its not always about how much you save. Sometimes, it is just about the fact that you saved at all. For you new couponers who are saving $10 here and $10 there, be proud.  Be proud that you are making better choices with your hard earned money. Don’t get down that you aren’t saving 90% – because that is hard work – and not everyone can do it all the time.

A penny saved truly is a penny earned.  $9.50 will cover the cost of a movie ticket for this weekend – or it could have covered the cost of the items he  purchased above.

If you are just starting out and want continued encouragement, I urge you to check out Natalie’s Newbie shopping posts.

$3.00 Cottonelle Coupon Update

October 7, 2011

I have received lots of comments and emails about using the $3.00/1 Cottonelle Coupon.

If you printed this coupon to use on the Walgreens Cottonelle deal, you may want to reconsider. This is a Canadian coupon.

Here is how you can tell:

1. The coupon is on this site- Canadian Site – see the CA .

It specifically asks if you want to go the US Site.

2. The Coupon has French Verbiage for Cananda.

3. The coupon verbiage says Canadian Retailer.

4. The remit to is St. John, New Brunswick Canada.

5. The coupon say only redeemable in Canada.

I hope this information will help you make an informed, ethical decision.

P.S.Remember, just because you see it on a blog or forum doesn’t make it correct. Always check your own coupons and ads — that includes anything you see on FTM.

Coupon Organization: The 9 Year Old Boy Method

October 4, 2011

coupons

This is a 9 year old boy’s definition of organizing coupons. I am almost sure he learned this organization method  from his father.

This all started innocently enough, Evan offered to clean up some expired coupons I had.  Since I am dealing with my leg injury, I thought the help would be nice.

He emerged from the basement with many non expired  coupons – heading for the trash!!!  You should have heard the scream – it was like a slow motion Nooooooo.

Luckily, no coupons were harmed in this incident. Phew.

Stockpile Price List | Decide on Your Buy Price

September 30, 2011

Earlier this year I did a series on Stockpile Prices. I am frequently asked what my stockpile prices are.  I am republishing this for the newer couponers.  Please be sure to read this entire post before using the lists.

This series has included Stock Up Prices on MeatStock Up Prices on Household Staples, Stockup Prices on Toiletries , Stock Up Prices on Pantry Staples and Refrigerated staples.

I have compiled all of these prices in a Printable Stockpile Price List that includes a place for you to write your own price. In addition, I have included a Blank Printable Stockpile Price List.

Remember, find prices that work best for you, don’t compare yourself to others, these prices are a starting point. I truly believe that these prices are obtainable for 85% of the FTM readers. However, it takes lots of work and time.  Find the price that best balances your time and money.

How to Get FTM Posts on Facebook

September 25, 2011

The general consensus on the new Facebook – it is harder to find what you are looking for. Some people may enjoy the sidebar feed, and you don’t have to make any changes.

I have received a few emails asking if I knew how to get FTM post back on your main feed.

The only way I have figured out is to click on the blue arrow and choose mark as top story.  If you do this several times on FTM posts, Facebook will know that you prefer to see these posts in your main feed.

If you aren’t following FTM on Facebook, you can join us here.
