For my local readers & Reading Eagle Paper Subscribers – Please read entire post :)
A few of you left messages regarding the Reading Eagle and coupon inserts. As of right now, the official word from Reading Eagle is that they are STILL providing Red Plum and Proctor & Gamble in their paper. They are trying to get Smart Source back.
Now, this could just be the Public Relations answer for now, but I would hope they continue to provide them. I just want to remind you that normally the newspapers have LITTLE say over where the inserts are distributed. Red Plum and Smartsource are companies and they make decisions based on financial and demographic data. If it costs to much for an insert to be distributed in an area, they will stop. Trust me when I say that Reading Eagle doesn’t want to lose the inserts – just as much as we don’t want them to.
So, for now we can anticipate that the Reading Eagle will continue to have the Red Plum and P&G. Obviously, this could change at any time.
I highly suggest that you check the coupon preview each week here to determine what inserts are coming out that week. Some weeks there are NO Redplums, meaning that there will be NO Coupons in the Reading Eagle.

I received a phone call from one of their reps this morning and he stated as above. He left me his number to contact him if this Sundays paper had no inserts at all. He was very helpful and hopes that Smart Source will come back. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks Joyce for the confirmation!

but does that answer why they did not have NONE in this past weekend 9/23. Zip!

Tina,
Yes I did answer that question. There was only a Smart Source this weekend.
As per the post – Some weeks there are NO Redplums, meaning that there will be NO Coupons in the Reading Eagle.

does the reading eagle have the option for “vacation days” like the inquirer? i usually do that for holiday weekends so im not wasting $$ on coupon-less papers.

Sorry I am not sure..
LP says
yes. you just have to give like 48 hrs notice or they will deliver it anyway
