5 Stress Reducing Work Habits Plus Coupon and FREE Snack Deal
Work. It is where many of us spend the majority of our waking hours during the week. We spend 8-9-10 hours or more at the job and many of us barely take 30 minutes for lunch. All that work can make us stressed out and cranky but it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are 5 Stress Reducing Work Habits to help you feel better, be more productive and less stressed out at work.
- Move more. Get up from your desk and move! Take a walk around the block if you can, or go up and down a flight of stairs. Forget sending that email; go talk to your co-worker in person. You can even march in place or do some stretching. Get your body moving and you’ll feel less stressed and be more productive.
- Socialize. Ok, we’re not talking about partying all day but building relationships with your co-workers can ease stress. You will feel better with a support system and having friendly conversations throughout the day helps boost morale. Face it, you spend as much time with your co-workers as you do your family. It may as well be a friendly experience.
- Check your posture. If you work at a desk most of the day, make sure you are not hunched over or slouching. Doing so makes the body stiff, sore and could lead to health problems. Make sure your desk chair is the proper height and your computer screen is in a good position for viewing. This is also a good time to remember tip #1.
- Learn a new skill. Working for 8+ hours a day, family obligations and normal life don’t leave a lot of time for learning a new skill. However, many employers offer training in-house or even pay for external training courses. Take advantage of it. It will help build your resume and break up the normal day to day routine.
- Eat! Take your lunch time, even 30 minutes. Don’t eat lunch and work at your desk. Actually get up and go out or go to the lunch room and decompress and feed your body. Take regular breaks to refill your water bottle and an afternoon snack too. Don’t let the 3PM slump hit you.
These 5 Stress Reducing Work Habits will help you feel less stressed and be more production every day. Speaking of the 3PM slump; If I don’t eat on a regular schedule and drink lots of water, the 3PM slump hits me hard. How about you? I don’t even have to see the clock I can feel it. I try to make sure I get up, fill my water bottle and grab a snack.
Even though I am usually a sugar junkie, I need a crunchy snack in the afternoon. I’m not sure why, but that is what helps me get through the end of the day. Our vending machines mostly have greasy chips and sugary items; so I tend to pick up some snacks when I go shopping at Acme Markets and bring them to work.
My newest crunchy snack obsession is Good THiNS Snacks. Have you tried these yet? They come in great flavors and are made of yummy ingredients such as wheat, potato, rice and even chickpeas-my favorite! The flavors include: GOOD THiNS Sweet Potato, GOOD THiNS Chickpea Garlic and Herb, GOOD THiNS Original Potato, GOOD THiNS Potato Spinach & Garlic and GOOD THiNS Rice Veggie Blend. The Chickpea Garlic and Herb flavor are out of this world!
